    The ones who are in it for laughs. Who'll fool you but let you in on the joke eventually. I know I've said it before, but the best story I've ever read here was a troll story (which sadly didn't get past moderation).

    It was about a kid growing up in a rural community, discovering he has a sister and having weird feelings about her, particularly around a guy who obviously likes her. The story talked about disagreements they both have with their father and the OP eventually has to confront the father in what turned out to be quite a violent way.

    I'd read the thing all the way through without clicking that it was Star Wars. It was so well-written, it kept you just close enough away from the truth and then the big reveal was a wonderful thing indeed.

    I still don't know who wrote it but it was a very, very fine piece of work. I know it's not what the site is about and I'm not sure TheManagement approves of trolling (neither do I when it means people with real problems don't get answers) but this was so obviously light relief and it's one of the things that makes me come to this site.

        That is one of the most disappointing things I've heard in my whole time here. I'm seriously considering retracting any effort and thought I put into anything I type here. Maybe I'll just copy and paste answers from old Everybody Loves Raymond scripts from hereon in. Starting now.

      Are you kidding? Half of the stories on this site are trolling, there's no way Management doesn't like trolling. Maybe they just didn't get that it was actually trolling, and thought it was a real person with real problems.

    I knew somebody who used "troll" as a shortening of "toilet roll" before. I guess that make trolls literally ass wipes.

    No seriously, trolls are good so long as they're either intelligent or make me giggle :) In which case, they're not really trolls, just people who don't take it seriously. To be a real troll you've got to be a genuinely annoying bastard ;)

      Exactly.

      It's somewhat of an indicator of intelligence.
      Stupid people just aren't funny, even when they try to be.

      I've seen a new version of troll on IIN:
      the Sex Troll.
      They are a breed of troll that craves sexual attention because they are desperate and needy. Normally they are teens that are new to the concept of having real sex, as if they are the first whoremonal twat to ever get horny, but sometimes it's an adult (a late-bloomer). Their trolling is so lame.

    I hate the people that don't understand what a troll is and think that everyone who says something they don't like is a troll.

    A troll is someone who says something BELIEVABLE that is false to trick people.

    Not someone who says something stupid.

    Trolling is an art form in its essense. The ones who are good at it use a combination of sarcasm, intelligence, logic, and overall initiative to confidently troll the unknowing layman.

    The ones who do it just to start fights have no talent whatsoever and to me are an insult to those of us that take our trolling very seriously.

    I don't get the meaning of ''intelligent/literate troll''? you do know most trolls pretend to be idiots, unless you have confused the term with people you simply oppose, which seems to happen often...

    I only like the funny, intelligent ones that can really make people laugh and aren't there to really annoy/bag on people. The trolls who just want to start flame wars and insult others are just fail trolls in my opinion. They only want to cause disruption and chaos.

    Funny trolls that make up rediculous stuff. My favorite story on here which I believe to be a troll is "I still enjoy shitting my pants." Stuff like that is why I even come here.
