I like trance/dance, indie, alternative, r&b, blah, blah. Anything but country.
I don't restrict myself to any genre really and don't think you should. There's good and bad music in any genre. Exclusively listening to only one or brushing a genre off as overly aggressive or lame is your own loss.
If I had $1 for every time I heard someone say 'I like most music... except that heavy metal stuff' I would be so rich
Drum and Bass is my favorite genre, but I'll listen to any type of music that sounds good to my ear.
I like a lot of different music and it changes over time, but I always come back to rock/metal.
I listen all kinds of music, but no rap. I can't stand that.
Why? Um... Because I like the music I'm listening to.
I can listen to any kind of music but my most absolute favorite is Classical Music. I love Classical Music because its natural, sophisticated, emotional and created by extremely talented people.
The unfortunate thing though is that many of these talented Classical Composers who lived hundreds of years ago were either little appreciated, lived in poverty, stricken with incurable illnesses and etc.
Johann Sebastian Bach, who is widely considered the greatest Classical Composer who has ever lived, was only given recognition as a renowned Organ Player (He composed the famous Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which is probably the most well-known Organ piece, played in Vampire movies and such) during his lifetime and no recognition as a Great Composer. Antonio Lucio Vivaldi is considered the greatest Italian Baroque Composer (Famous for his 4 Violin Concertos known as " The Four Seasons ") struggled financially towards the end of his life and died with nothing. Ludwig Van Beethoven became completely deaf for the last 25 years or so of his life and as we know when it comes to music our sense of hearing is absolutely essential. He composed some of the greatest masterpieces in all of Classical Music despite being deaf and never having the joy of hearing any of it.
Basically what I'm saying is, I have a lot of appreciation for Classical Music not only for its beauty but also because of the strength of the people who made it what it is. They endured unspeakably harsh living conditions, had to work very hard for so little and yet showed great talent despite their unforgiving realities.
I listen to everything. Except rap.
But only because I hate black people.

i like music that makes me want to get up and SHAKE IT, and usually, it ends up being hiphop or rock
Heavy metal, since all of the other music for me is straight-fowarded these days. I like songs with secret messages, and deep meanings
I love Progressive House, Indie Rock, alternative Rock and Old School rap like 90's era. they are so relaxing and give you a high that no drug can give you :P
Alot of experimental rock type stuff..Melvins..Primus sorta thing, Cause i got bored with more mainstreamy music. Grunge, industrial metal and stoner rock.
There are good songs in every genre, even the genres that are reviled. Anyone who writes off a whole genre is generally thinking about their own self-image and how they want to portray themselves, and probably don't know enough about the genre to make such a judgement.
Music is meant to be enjoyed. It isn't meant as a tool to insult each other's tastes.
Well, i truly love indie, britpop, shoegaze and smth like this, but also with pleasure I listen to dubstep, house, country. I can not even call a genre I really hate (maybe just heavy- or gothic-rock, but i don't really hate'em, it just hurts my ears))
Death metal because I'm disillusioned with the world. Aeon, Deicide, Spawn of Possession are some of my favorites. I also like classical music as well.
I despise the term "heavy metal," I find that simply "metal" is just fine. And that's my choice. Why? I don't know. It's good.
all over the place really-used to be heavily into house/trance, but now I prefer songs I can sing to (I'm developing a really good singing voice), usually old school pop like George Michael, Depeche Mode, New Order, etc.
Mostly I prefer music with genuine emotion. So much of the crap out there is fake, derivative and has no feeling.
I also like some jazz/blues. I hate rap music, don't give a fuk about black culture and would never support it, don't like hip-hop either in general but I'll confess I have liked one or two songs.
also not too fond of country, aside from a few more 'pop' type artists.
i like some rock, alternative and metal music that sounds like music-that black/death metal shit can go to hell.
