What kind of art project should i do?

I have been craving to get back into art for a couple of years now, and I am finally putting in the time and effort to do it! The only problem is, I can't decide what kind of medium I should use.

Really, whatever inspires you the most. All good art comes from lots of inspiration.

You should make life size bronze horse robots and then install them in your local mall as art terrorism or as a gift to the people of your town - just an idea ?
Best of luck with your artistic pursuits !

Whatever inspires you. A lot of great artists worked in several mediums before they found one to specialise in, so if you are not sure just pick some of the cheapest ones and try them all out and see if you find one that you like.

My recommendation would depend on lots of factors, not least what you mostly do in your daily life. Imo a project in a 3-dimensional medium (sculpture, sewing, mosaic) would be the most satisfying for someone who's desk-bound looking at a 2-dimensional screen for most of the day. Then you'd also have something you could wear, display in your home or give away as a present.

I think you should combine music with animation or film. You can create beautiful messages if you pick the right music piece!

I hope that you are truly talented at the THIRTEEN options that you mentioned, in each and every one of them really.. One of this should come to you, you shouldn't just "look" for it and neither people shouldn't really decide for YOU honestly.

I pick sewing. I am an artistic person, but I lean more towards practicality-making useful things, beautifully. Sewing also allows me to make not-so-useful things while still practising a useful skill. With sewing, you could take a traditional craft or art and use it to create something completely different, unexpected....etc.

That's just my take on it, I'd rather look at fashion designs and intricate embroidery and amazing hand-made quilts and the like over things such as paintings, drawings and such. Just my personal opinion. It just seems to me like there's so much more unexplored territory in the world of sewing vs many (not all!!) of the other choices.

  • Why pick just one?

Why not pick a subject then choose three different mediums to express it in.
    Example:
    1) a favorite medium; the one you're best at, to build confidence in your subject.
    2) a medium that can be given away as a gift to someone dear to you.
    3) a new medium; one that you've never experienced or have little knowledge of.

Animation is fucking hard. Light desk + 1000 sheets of paper + software + soooo much of your time. If you're going back to art ease into it don't dive in. So drawing or painting is a good start. Drawing is cheaper. I know oil paints are the fancy one everyone like but I like acrylics, once you get used to them they're a great inexpensive medium.
