If i'm with a group of people, a Halberd. It's good for defending corridors, the way the blade is angled lets you hook an opponent in the back of any limb and trip them down to bring them into range of everyone else to stab them with the pointy parts of their halberds. Super huge and unwieldy, but maybe good for base defense, or strapped to a deathrig.
Me and a friend have a plan for any type of apocalypse in which we will procure a semi truck and have an intermodal container on the back with living quarters in, solar panels on top, maybe. A couple cots and a table/chair nailed/strapped to the floor. I feel like 1 person driving, 1 person in the passenger seat (maybe 2 if it's a 3 seater rig), and 2 in the back would make a good sized team.
I guess what I'm saying is a semi truck would be my weapon of choice, but it's unwieldy in hand-to-hand combat.
My personal fantasies aside, probably a good old fashioned hunting knife. Not into knives, but I want something sturdy and reliable. Would definitely be down to get into knifemaking, it seems cool, and would be invaluable in the apocalypse.
I usually keep a pretty gory lookin bowie knife with me any time I'm out and about. If this was some kinda lawless situation I've got a double bit axe with a 3 foot handle and a couple chainsaws I could probably get running in my room. Pretty good with a slingshot and I've got a ton of ball bearings from car wheel bearings that'll do a ton of damage if you get hit with em. Napalm is pretty easy to make too.
Massive fuckoff two-sided battle axe
Hugely impractical but I would sell every gun I own for the right to carry a 300 pound battle axe around
A machete at hand and a Colt Government 1911 A1 right on my belt if needed. But I really prefer the machete. Or an axe. You can use it for pretty everything that would be needed during an apocalypse.
My mind... Once I out-think you, or figure out how to trick you... the physical weapon of your choice has little to do with the outcome.
Hydrogen bomb. What's the best way to ensure peace? Hold a weapon powerful enough to make your state cease existing!
(Obviously meant in jest)
My bow, if i had my ideal louadout I would have my bow, an axe on my hip with a handgun strapped to my leg and a pistol caliber carbine on a sling with this lovely scale armor mix I found online for armor and a good boar spear. I would like a bolt action rifle as well but it would simply be 2 heavy for long term use with everything else especislly after you add our survival needs. But yea I'd say that's my ideal louadout.
A full medieval suit of armour and a longsword. I was actually going to join a HEMA club before this virus cancelled it, I will be joining it after all this though.
Join a real European martial arts class, hema uses diffrent swords. There this event as well were people wear full suits and brawl it out. It's a huge fucking joke. Not a single person there knows how to use the weapon in there hands. Real medieval combat Is somewhat graceful in 2 fully armored opponents as theres only a handful of weak points.
In this event however its litterly just a pack of dudes in armor banging blunted swords agaisnt each others heads and backs. It couldnt be more retarded. I'm not saying dont join one of these things it's a great idea but dont have your Hope's to high if your hoping to actually learn something useful towards the weapons you are interested in. I love Falchions and would love to learn to use one properly but that ain't gonna happen with hemma
What do you mean by a real European martial arts class? I haven't heard of anything other than HEMA.
Yeah I know they use different swords but I've asked what exact swords they use and the weight difference between them and real swords seems to be negligible. I'm gonna buy a real sword myself soon after beginning anyway to compare the two.
There are competitions in HEMA that would quickly expose anyone who doesn't know what they're doing. But they don't generally wear full armour in them. Are you sure you weren't looking at some medieval fair or something instead?
I think you're being a bit unfair towards HEMA. I presume you've attended a HEMA class and had a bad experience with it to say all this, but that isn't necessarily representative of the whole. From all I've seen it seems to be very legitimate, they take authenticity and accuracy very seriously. The entire reason HEMA was born in the first place was because people wanted to learn real swordfighting rather than that fake fencing shit. That being said, I will make sure to look into my instructor and compare him with others online now to make sure he knows what he's doing.
I dont know what there is, but hema is very focused on only a handful of weapons non of wich being what you desire according to the accounts of those who have gone that I've talked to.
It's more than weight. A sword is an extension of your arm. Yoh can't train for a rapier then use a longsword. You'll find very diminished returns. They fight very differently.
Like I said it was something else I just don't recall the name of it.
Hema does know what they are doing. I've entertained thr idea but found for my desires it would be a retarded waste if time to go. The ewords and axes I'm interested in fight incredibly differently than what they use and then what's the whole bloody point? There isnt one. You don't train at a rang for a semi auto then carry a revolver everywhere. You train with what you'll use. That's the point.
I'm just saying for the sword you like you wint get that experince and you'll probably regret spending the money
Well HEMA's focused on any medieval weapon for which there are any surviving medieval documents describing how they used it. Realistically though, most HEMA classes would just train with one or two weapons alright, it would only be the largest HEMA clubs in the world that would have any classes using the more obscure weapons. But the longsword and some form of one-handed sword seem to be the main weapons taught in most HEMA clubs, including the one I'm gonna go to (longsword + sabre), and they're exactly the weapons I want to learn.
I know you can't train for a rapier then use a longsword, it's easy to see they're vastly different to each other. But if you want to fight with a rapier but are frustrated that HEMA clubs only teach the longsword then it's a bit unfair to say that HEMA is inauthentic because of that.
pump shotgun with extended magazine tube & buckshot
hands down the best close to medium range weapon
Ooh that's a good one glad udidn't say a gun the noise would attract unwanted attention..
That’s true, but people who aren’t stupid tend not to walk towards gunshots lol
It's not the people it's the zombies we're talking about zombies get attracted to noise making most guns a huge no no to acquire if that's what you chose to take them out then you best hope that you wont attract more if you use a gun on one straggler you could potentially lead a hoard to your location
