What is your opinion on body suspension?

Body suspension is where you put large hooks through your skin (usually from your shoulder blades chest&stomach or your knees) and your hung from the ceiling or a type of rack as a type of body modification. People do this as a type of spirital act because of the use of meditation durring the suspension period but it is also thought of as an art,personal expression (like a tattoo or piercing), or in some cases an activity for enjoyment. What's your opinion?

    I've seen footage of it, and the person seems to be meditative and content. It's what they desire and pursue for a reason they understand. I can't get over the physics of it. It looks so painful, but the person seems so peaceful. It's unusual behavior but it's not bad or wrong for those who desire it.

    This is one of the dumbest and most dangerous activities ever invented for general practitioners! Ranks right up there with sky diving and bungee jumping (but with a Spanish Inquisition twist to it).

    Piercing combined with suspension was historically important in the religious ceremonies of some Native Americans, featuring in many variants of the Sun Dance ceremony.

    Instead of co-opting the ideas of other societies, why not bust a brain cell and really come up with a trend that is not a weak and meaningless regurgitation of someone else's cultural identity?

    Other:

    It creeps me the hell out but if someone else wants to do it... it's their choice. Just make sure you don't have permanent damage and you keep the wounds free from infection.
