What is your opinion on art-deco architecture?

The skyscrapers built in New York in the 20s and 30s are in the Art-Deco style, such as the Chrysler building, and the Empire State Building. What is your opinion on that style?

    FAR more beautiful than the brutalist crap that came after WW2, and the glass boxes they're constructing nowadays. Not even a comparison.

      The soviet union loved that brutalist crap. Its looks intimidating. Perfect for government buildings in this era.

        Art Deco was also used by the Soviets, if I remember correctly.

          Some of their buildings were. The romanian palace was amazing. But if you google soviet building you'll see most of the building were that Darth Vader style

    At least it had a theme and some style. I remember seeing the lobbr of the Chrysler building for tge first time whan I was 12 with the beautiful murals and was blown away.

    I'm obsessed with Art Déco jewelry and fashions! Érte is EVERYTHING! I also like the architecture. But Art Nouveau also has some delightful designs. While they are different there is a bit that bleeds from one into the other, and it marries well...

      I personally really like baroque-style actually. Not sure why so many people dislike that aesthetic.

    I don't like it personally but I can definitely appreciate it. I like mid-century and brutalist styles myself.

      Not many people seem to like brutalism. That style seems universally hated.

        Yeah, it's definitely not most people's taste. I don't like some of the really extreme stuff, but I do like it in general. I really like the style that's sort of in-between mid-mod and brutalist, but I forgot what it's called. A lot of federal/state buildings are in that style. Mild brutalist, if you will.
