I actually just got hired in the field I'm interested in! I am starting Monday in an apprenticeship program for automotive parts and once I complete the apprenticeship I get an $1000 bursary to put toward school! Plus, that apprenticeship will also help me get an actual mechanics apprenticeship!
I work 32 hours a week as a Security Guard doing a shitton of paperwork on a 40 acre property and sneaking up on people trying to break into my shit. It's this huge tech center with millions of dollars of shit that I don't care about. Standard security uniform.
I work 30 hours a week as a Teacher's Aide in the Special Education department but a lot of my students are also juvenile offenders so essentially my day consists of 1/3 teaching, 1/3 putting up with bullshit and 1/3 administrative shit. No uniform.
I do anywhere from 1 weekend a month to a week out of the month to a few months out of the year (pretty much whenever they want me) as a mechanic in the Army Reserves. Army uniform.
I am a part-time student this semester (awaiting transfer to university which, here, only takes transfers in the fall). I'm usually a full-time student but I'm done with my associate's. I just need the units to comply with regulation regarding qualification to be a teacher's aide in the SpEd department. I'm studying to be a Special Ed teacher.
The pay sucks for all of those jobs and for the security job, I hate it and it is boring but it pays the bills. The TA job is great for experience but the kids try my patience sometimes and the teachers treat me like their lil bitch and expect me to "just know" about my students without giving me any of the information ABOUT them. The Army thing is fun, I get to work by myself which is... it's fucking awesome.
"Automotive technician"
So basically I'm a motor mechanic with a fancy title in a specialized field (automatic transmissions or to be more specific, valve bodies - or electrohydraulic control units/mechatronics)
tl;dr?
I get dirty & undo bolts
Awwww yeah!!!
Oh...and you forgot to describe your uniform. I look forward to reading about it. ;)
I am a grad student looking for employment, anybody here hiring? Help a girl out with some of dat employment lol.
Uniform? I haven't had a job that required a uniform in ..... well over a decade.
I wear many hats in my office job. I am a manager of basically everything. And I am a mom. I work a standard 40 hour week when I do go. ( I am currently on leave.) I enjoy my life. Sometimes work gets in the way of doing other things but I like my job. But I like being a mom better.
I work as a carpenter and I really enjoy my job. I work ten hours a day, and always wear shorts and no shirt, because it's always hot here
Why do some messages which appear in my email in box not also appear on here so I can reply to them?
If they've been deleted for some reason, either by the poster or the moderators, why do I get them at all? I find it VERY frustrating to receive messages I can't reply to - or is that the point?
Anyway, in response to ASSTASTICS; No, it's not easy money, the rate was recently increased to 60c a minute= with the callers paying anything between $2.95 and $4.95 a minute: Telstra and the people who own the lines are making lots of money but I'm at the end of that line (accidental pun, but I'll leave it there).
And yeah, some of the callers are "losers", but quite a few are also lonely, old, live in isolated areas, have disabilities or are widowed/separated/divorced. Some just want someone to listen to them because they have no-one else, which I find sad, and often I'm told life stories they haven't told anyone else.
Fortunately I have some counselling skills and am a good listener on and off the sex lines; I also have a fairly good knowledge of what services and resources are available for various issues and often refer callers on, which means they don't call me again. Not smart from the point of view of my earnings, but I couldn't not do it.
I don't understand your reference to "innuendo" in relation to me and/or my work - please explain AND if you know why the reply I'm replying to doesn't appear her, please explain that too
Footlocker weekdays, Good discounts, access to new kicks before customers especially if your a sneaker head like me. Weekends at bluebirds, packing potato chip. Both fun, both have music playing. In between finding time to cram uni work in.. c.r.e.a.m
I've worked from home on an adult sex line for nearly 5 years. I wear what I like and log on for whatever hours I want to do.
Because of ill health it's really the only work I can do now & I can decide at any time how long I want to be on line.
It's a very variable job: mostly boring (2 minutes & then a hangup without even a thank you is common); sometimes interesting, arousing or fascinating, sometimes sad or disturbing.
I think it would be titillatingly delightful to play with twisted minds like you do. I would love to be a verbal sperm bucket. You must really enjoy your job. Congratulations on following your heart. I wish I could.
I'm not sure but I think you're trying to insult me. Don't bother unless you're prepared to pay for it.
No. Sorry to leave you with that impression. I have a perverted interest in what you do. I realize that you probably don't share my vicarious attitude, but I truly appreciate any candid details you would like to share.
Well I could hardly have a vicarious interest in myself, could I now? (Smile)
What sort of candid details are you after? Most calls are dead boring, blokes who want a quick blowjob, come and hang up without a thank you.... but then there are the ones who fall in love with who they think I am and then there was one, just one, I fell in love with and still am, but he no longer calls me.
Yes, definitely!
I have a mountain bike with 29ers on it, and it's awesome! Unfortunately though, it's got two flat tires (still) from the last time I went riding... It's been too cold for me to want to go riding lately too. I'll get her fixed up come spring time though.
Professional. Regular clothes. Long but semi-flexible hours, some of it doing office work at my desk or by telecommuting, some of it meeting with clients.
Sales Associate at a retail store. The store sells a bunch of random things. Not the worst job as a first job but eh, it is what it is.
Work about 20-30 hours a week...depending on holidays and such. We have to wear solid black or white tops, black pants, black shoes. Also aprons. But we don't have full on uniforms thank goodness.
Grocery store cashier.
I fucking hate it.
Work a variable 35 hours a week. Sometimes 20 hours, sometimes 40.
Have I mentioned that I fucking hate it?
Because I do.
I wear scrubs. I'm still in my scrubs and I been out of work for 4 hours now.
I'm a nanny. Almost twelve years now...I think my total kid count is around 40 now but I'm too tired to work it out. I work 10-14 hours a day. Except my "half day". That's only three hours.
I wear my every day clothes. I get vomited on a lot. Newborns and under one's are puke factories.
Well...let me preface it by saying they've always been difficult to manage, but I had them toeing the line. Until theor mother had a year of maternity leave and overrides EVERYTHING I do because she's always around and the kids know that if they are told no by me, they can go to her and she won't bother checking what I've said or why.
The three year old has spat in my face. He has bitten me. He has shrieking tantrums way beyond appropriate for his age over absolutely nothing. If given his own way (as his mother is wont to do) he would eat junk nonstop (but won't eat his actual meals...). He eats so fast that he chokes. I have seen him choke because he has shoved four pieces of food in his mouth at once and spat them out, then licked them back up off his plate like a dog. He constantly jumps on people, I have bruises from him. He does this to his baby brother. He smacked the baby in the head when he was about two weeks old. The mother was holding thr baby at the time. He didn't get punished. I almost threw up I was so worried about the baby (bub's fine. I've told them they have to be harder on him because otherwise he'll forever have the guilt of killing his brother).
Yesterday, the five year old had a tantrum in the car, kicking and shrieking, after being taken out on one of their favourite outings and given treats, because she was told they had to shower before going to their grandmother's house that night. They also scream driving directions at their mother. She thinks it's funny. My ears are still ringing.
It's like the exist solely to disgust and disappoint me further each day.
I'm leaving them soon. They don't know it yet. But its that or kill them.
Oh and I dont have set hours for this job. Kids bedtime is 7 and I'm frequently there til 8 cos theyre still screaming and the parents can't deal with it. Having started between 7 and 8am, because they cant deal with getting ready in the morning, either. Funnily enough, if I'm allowed to put them to bed myself, they're asleep in 10mins...
What a despicable parent >:(
Props to you, because I probably would have lost my temper with the kids/mother already.
Thank goodness the baby wasn't hurt. That would have been horrible. The kid having to live with that realization too, would have been traumatic for sure.
I can't stand it when parents allow their kids to act out like that. Especially when it's in public too. I'm just like 'shut that little bastard up!' They shouldn't even go in public if they are going to let their rambunctious hooligans act the way they do...
It's good that you are leaving them. It sounds like way more stress than it's worth.
I occupy a desk.
No uniform per say but there is a dress code i.e. business shirt blah blah. Casual Fridays though so I scroll in sporting my man skin.
