What is your general feeling about humankind?

What are everyone's general thoughts about humankind? I admit I'm somewhat of a closet misanthrope, and have a general belief that most people are self-serving and manipulative, more interested in indulging their own desires than doing things for the good of their fellow human beings.

And I'm not just talking about the everyday quid-pro-quo transactional stuff. Doing business is doing business, and is part of life. I'm talking about people that are deliberately manipulative and willing to lie and cheat to get their way. I'm not purporting to be a saint myself, but I unfortunately don't have a very high view of humankind generally. Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this.
