Lead. I love grinding that shit up and adding it to make up. The pale complexion it gives me is second to none. And the leftovers, I paint my walls and kids toys with. Particularly their teething toys.

What ever will make the strongest sword. Gold has to be the worst. For one pure gold is very soft. It also costs a ton to obtain. Gold might look good but beyond that I do not see how it would be any good.

Did you see my comment? GOLDDDDDDDDD!!!
Gold is awesome because it's the only gold color in metal and it's pretty. Other colors are mostly silver or gray or dark colors. I don't know, I just love gold. And yellow. That's why my name is "spark" and it's yellow!
      xD

Did you read mine? I said it is good for making things look pretty but it is not very strong. So beside cosmetic use it is pretty worthless.

Gold is used in a great deal of electronics and for low resistance electrical contacts due to it's nonexistent oxidation levels.

Despite it's relative (to other metals) uselessness, it is still widely regarded as a currency.

          Oh and how about dentistry?

Dont they usually use mercury? Gold teeth look rather tacky. Even my teeth are all silver not gold. I know they use gold sometimes but I do not think that is normal practice. I have had cavities and none that are gold.

Of course I read yours, that's why I replied to it...
And it is very strong; it's soft because it's just made that way out of nature. Soft does not mean not strong. And it's very useful for all kinds of things. And so are other metals. All I said was that gold is my favorite!

You've touched lithium with your bare hands? o.o

      Comment Hidden ( show )
        -
      • Actually...it's often perscribed for bi-polar disorder, so it's possible that they could even have ingested it.

I, on the other hand, missed that part of the question. I can say I've never touched cobalt. I'm a little surprised that the op let that slide..hahaha.

Lithium in pharmacology is lithium salts, not pure lithium. Elemental lithium reacts violently with water.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
            -
          • In pure, refined form...many, or most of these metals are deadly.

Elemental lead, chromium, cobalt, zinc, mercury, or barium will kill you quickly, if not instantly in it's pure form, but most of us have some coursing through our veins.

Lithium...as a component of a simple salt, has saved many lives. Chromium, lead, and zinc help paint adhear to their substrates, and can be harmless in minute quantities, but the E.P.A. requires stringent guidelines for disposal. Mercury is present in any aquatic animal we eat, and its vapor illuminates much of our artificial light, but it's deadly in concentrate. Cobalt contributes to the hue of blue diamonds, but is extremely radioactive when refined. Barium is used in rodenticides, but also contributes to making steel stronger.

If lithium salt doesn't contain the elemental metal lithium...then he hasn't touched it...and I'll graciously concede.

They said no alloys, though, so I assume they want us to have touched the metal in its elemental form.

              Comment Hidden ( show )
      • It would definitely suck to touch lithium metal with bare hands! It happens though, curious kids taking apart batteries and shit. I put lithium as a choice mainly because it is prescribed as a medication although the med is lithium that is bonded to a transporter for absorption into the body. I'm not counting that as an alloy since it's not like metal + metal alloys. And knowing this group someone would have complained about why lithium wasn't on the list!
