What is your favorite flower?

Just for fun I would like to hear about people's flower preferences. I saw a rose the other day that was almost a velvety black, it was so beautiful. What flower do you prefer and if possible add a story for your reasons and if you grow them.

Wisteria 1
Pansy 2

    I absolutely ADORE Stargazer Liliums.

I like lilies in general though, and I also like Martagons but Stargazers are always my favorite.

Next to that, I love wisteria, but Stargazer Liliums are my favorite. I love the way they bloom ^^

Just don't leave them where any cats might get at them.

    • So beautiful. What do cats do?

A lot of breeds of Liliums are poisonous to cats and cause sickness and sometimes death so you can't let cats ingest them.

Orchids, forget me nots and lilies of the valley. Small delicate flowers like that are my favourite. They look so small and innocent. Orchids I love for their smell and their exotic look.

I love peonies. They come in all shapes and sizes. They have a strong beautiful smell. I picked up a dying one from the nursery hoping to revive it. Everything died. But I kept watering and feeding it. Clipped all the dead stuff off. A couple weeks later its sprouting new eyes (budding stems). I'm hoping it will continue to grow!!

I like trying to revive flowering plants. I also once took 3 pussy willow branches out of a flower arrangement at some function I went to. When I got home I put them in water. A couple months later I had roots. I planted the 3 branches. 1 eventually died but I now have 2 pussy Willow bushes thriving in my yard. In spring the fuzzy little flowers are awsome. They don't have a smell but I like them anyway.

When I think of flowers I don't think of favorites. They're all beautiful in their own way so it's hard to distinguish one as my favorite.
I've always been fond of Morning Glories, Lilacs, and Hydrangeas (specifically the blue with yellow ones). Morning Glories and Lilacs are relevant to the two different apartments I grew up in, and Hydrangeas were somewhat common outside of businesses around my hometown.

I'm not huge fan of flowers but from "normal" flowers I like roses because tey rimnd me of one of my favourite bands and from those "weird" plants I love carnivorous plants - it's fun to watch when they eat flies

Calle Lilies, or lilies in general. They always seem to find there way into my life. Probably because my birthday is near Easter and it is a common Easter flower. People give them to me a lot. When I was a child it was stuffed bunny rabbits, now it's lilies. I do prefer lilies to stuffed animals as a gift.

I never intentionally grow them, but I've always had them in my yard. Right now there are lilies that grow like a weed in my yard. I also have irises, daffodils, crocus, and roses. I don't think there is a house in this city that doesn't have a rose bush. The only ones I planted myself are sunflowers and chamomile.

I like the smell of honeysuckle. En masse, I love the way bluebells carpet a forest floor or how field flowers look. For a bouquet, I like ranunculus. Individually, I've always had a soft spot for roses. We had a successful rose bush in the back garden when I was a kiddiepop.

Its crazy. No one I know has heard of ranunculus. What?!?!?! Ooh honeysuckles smell so good. And jasmine and magnolias. I am amazed by flowers. The simple things, ya know.

I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of them either until I saw them at a wedding. I couldn't take my eyes off them. I could barely believe they were real. I got chatting to the bride's sister (also the florist) about them. Apparently they're kind of common at weddings.

Oh, and I love the smell of both jasmine and magnolias. And, also, this is a strange choice but gorse. It smells like cake. And I can't believe I forget heather. Whole hillsides in Scotland look like this:

Aww, come over and visit us! Gorse flowers right through the winter even when all the green is covered with snow. The hillsides become a combination of white and pinky-purple.

This is your natural habitat. You'd be camouflaged!
