I knew within a week when I first met my husband. However I wouldn't have actually said yes to a proposal until we'd been living together for a couple of years. Always good to give these things time if you can, saves a lot of heartache in the future

It depends on how good you are at sizing up people.

It's going to be different for every person.

I pretty much knew in the first week of meeting face to face. But we had been talking online for over a year. Maybe almost 2? Yeah. I think almost 2.

For some, that certainly wouldn't be long enough. I wouldn't think it would be a good idea to marry someone within the first six months of knowing them.

When you've seen their not so fun habits/behaviours/whatever and you still love them (and none of these things are a danger to you or others) and can/do live with them, I think that's a good indicator.

I think living together before marriage/long term commitment is a good idea. You don't get the same feel for someone if you haven't lived with them as opposed to simply spending time together in chunks.

After a period of time move in together. If you haven't killed each other after a year then marriage is a good bet.

People constantly change so no matter how much time you spend with your partner before marrying him/her you're sure to find different versions of him/her as you progress in the relationshp.

    That's the beauty of it.

But it's socially acceptable to know each other for at least one year.
