What is the best way to quit your job?

It can be hard to leave a decent job even if you're moving on to a better opportunity to advance. On the other hand it can be quite therapuetic to quit a less desireable job. I'm asking for your stories of epic resignations and the not so dramatic 'take this job and shove it' tales.

    I was exploited in my last job and too young and naive to play politics. It was making me ill and I needed a serious break (so switching to another job wasn't an option). I saved all my pennies and decided that when my bank account had enough money for me to live six months without working, I'd leave. I used to think it pretty much every working day, i.e. is this the day? And then, one Wednesday, it was.

    It'd be about 10:20am. Turned the computer off, went downstairs, said goodbye to the receptionist who I was close to, and walked across the field to get the train home. When people talk about a weight being lifted from their shoulders, I felt it literally. As if I was fifty pounds lighter in just a few seconds.

      Did they notice that you did not come back?

      I had the same situation, but I moved across country to be closer to my parents and switched to a job there.

    Step 1.Run into there office.
    Step 2.Jump on there desk.
    Step 3.Do the hokey-pokey and turn ur self about.
    Step 4.Give him and/or her the good ol "FUCK YOU I QUIT!".
    step 5.Leave and get a better paying job.
