What is the average age to get a tattoo

I got my first tattoo at 16 after that i got two more this same year my mom let me get all of them but im wondering what the average age is to get tattoos and when other people got theirs.

    Before 18 for most people I know. My brother got one when he was 16 and was dissapointed when my dad didn't really care I think getting a tattoo under 18 is usually about rebelling

    Bad tattoo: 19 and under.

    Okay tattoo: 20-25.

    Good tattoo: 25+

      I know plenty of people who would argue your age constraints. You're not magically more intelligent and suddenly make all the right decisions at any particular age, I know 30 somethings who get bad tattoos and people younger than me who get amazing ones. Maturity and good decision making doesn't have a certain number associated with it, it depends on the individual and their life, experiences and intelligence.

              Somebody here used to use this symbol:

              \s/

              to denote when they were being sarcastic. I'm sure that person wouldn't mind if anyone else wanted to use it too, but that would require the whole of IIN knowing what the symbol means.

    A lot of people I know got their first tattoo before they were 18; as for myself I waited until I was sure of what I wanted to get anything inked on my body. I think I was 21 when I got my first. I'm glad I waited rather than tried to get any when I was in high school.... had I gotten the first tattoo I wanted I would've had an A7X deathbat on my chest rather than my self designed fibbonacci spiral. x.x

    There is no average age. When you feel comfortable getting it.

    I got my first at 17 and my last at 24(which makes 7.)

    I got my first tattoo at 20, and while I had friends in high school who got tattoos at about 16, 18+ is probably a better age range to get your first one.

    I got a tattoo of a piece of skin on my arm. It's amazingly lifelike, it's like there's not even a tattoo there at all. He's done an amazing job.
