Pretty much.
Some women hardly notice it except for the fact that they have to wear sanitary protection, and they don't even bleed that much, or for that long.
Alas, I was not so fortunate. I tend to have an completely irrational meltdown 2 days before no matter where I am or what I'm doing, stomach cramp sometimes so bad I am clutching my chair in pain and crying, nerves on a knife-edge, skin break-outs, tiredness, and intense sugar cravings. On day 2 or 3 if I don't change my protection every 3 hours or so I can expect a nasty surprise in my underwear that won't come out in the wash. Sometimes that happens anyway. Keeping my bedsheets unscathed is a gamble unless I supplement the sanitary protection with tissue paper.
Also, I have weirdly increased libido in the face of all of this.
So, not a picnic.
Getting horny during this period... of having a period (god sounds like I am talking about high school) Must be common, I have herd this quite a lot.
Ohhh and the comfort food! Can always tell when a family or friend is on the rag! They come home with bags full of cakes, donuts and ice cream, then stay in bed watching marathons of some garbage
It feels bad.
The other ladies have gone into enough detail so I'll leave it at that.
Depends on the girl but for me it's like.
First day, feels like someone stuck something in your abdomen and is slowly twisting it throughout the day. You feel fat/bloated, and you can feel the blood leaving you which is kind of weird I suppose for a person with a dick. Feels nothing like peeing just...slightly thicker fluid leaving you slowly? When I started birth control the pain stopped.
You're easily irritable for no apparent reason and might snap at people more.
When I was on birth control I had really bad mood swings during my periods and would have meltdowns, be manic depressive.
Now that I stopped my birth control I actually feel normal. So I got the headache, the tummy pains and such back but no more shitty mood swings. I never bled a lot to begin with anyways which is good because I know some girls do and that looks like it sucks.
All I wanna do is shower when I feel there's blood. Like obviously if you sit or lay down the blood will run down so sometimes it goes down your ass crack and it just feels uncomfortable.
It feels a bit like peeing, but you can't control it no matter how hard you try. Depending on the collection method (tampons/pads) it can be more or less comfortable. With tampons, you don't feel like you're on your period, but you can still get cramps/stomach discomfort. With pads, it's a more or less constant flow, and pads kind of feel like diapers. Tampons need to be changed every 6 or so hours, while pads need to be changed every 2-3 depending on your flow (amount of blood you shed each cycle).
Rub it in again and I’m going to be pissed off at you in two weeks when I start my period.
Feels like your "under" is so watery, it keeps flowing and flowing with painful legs and crampings abdomen
Kinda feels like having stomach flu or being hungover, bad headache, intestinal cramps. This is were the irritability comes from. And you can get super depressed for no reason, for the whole week or 2. Personally though if I drink a lot of water and exercise a bit harder before hand it barely has any effects, but I guess mines a lot more regular than some others who have it worse.
If it was anything like the ones I used to have: curled up on the bathroom floor in pain from the cramps, puking in the toilet from nausea, sweating profusely, and blacking out. Because I was dehydrated afterwards I had to stock up on water and electrolytes otherwise it guaranteed a leg cramp later on in the day.
Ugh that's the worst I've ever heard :( what stopped them being like that?
Mine were always bad until I started taking the right kind of birth control. But never puking or blacking out. That's reserved for the migraines hah.
Like you, birth control stopped it. There's no pain anymore and I don't have to embarrass myself with hogging up the bathroom anymore. My only fear is that my thyroid will shut down due to the pills. This might make me sound like a jerk, but I'll take the pain over getting fat again if I have to. I might just talk to my gyno and see my options.
:)
You can always see an endocrinologist about the thyroid if it ever comes up. There are options for managing thyroid issues. It's usually more pills, but still.
Is it all BC that causes thyroid issues or can you try a different brand? I don't recall seeing thyroid stuff mentioned on my BC, but then, I was given it by the endo who was managing my thyroid so I guess it'll be ok haha.
It’s bad and it smells and some girls lose so much blood they pass out or become anemic. I’m ok birth control to stop my period so I don’t lose too much blood. The cramps are like literal stabbing and cutting open your abdomen. But some girls don’t notice it. Pads are never thick enough and tampons never sit right for me. I’m very thankful for my birth control shot:)
It varies from woman to woman, but I can say that across the board, it is unpleasant.
For me it starts with chocolate cravings the week before the period. The first day of my period, I have been called a hormonal raging bitch by my whole family and people I have dated. Day two: the moaning, groaning, and scrunchy faces followed by grossly huge blood clots. day 3-5: general discomfort. Day 6-8: Why hasn't the fuckin period ended yet D:
(I probably go through 15-20 pads per period cycle)
It sucks. Cramps, constantly worrying about bleeding through your clothes (you'd be surprised how easily this can happen), that gross feeling when you wake up and need to change your pad/tampon/etc. and hoping you didn't bleed on your sheets, feeling light headed, irritable, and just achey and painful. If you have heavy periods, it's a nightmare. I take birth control to at least keep it under control.
Oh, and this part might be TMI, but when you stand up or move and you can feel a large amount of blood just flow out. It's awful.
I also get hungrier than usual.
honestly i really don't get cramps (maybe once every 10 months and they only last a few hours). i really don't get all the complaining. sometimes i forget i'm on my period
