I think 2 or 3 years is an acceptable difference, even when you're young.

    A 15 - 20 year difference is good.

The normal age difference for adolescents is usually within 2 years, and usually (but not always) with the male being the older partner. The primary reason for this, is that females usually enter puberty first, and mature quicker than males.
The normal age difference for adults, is usually 2 to 5 years.

I would not be overly concerned if your female partner is a few months outside of this age range, in your stage of development.

Note: In most modern Western cultures. Up to 7 years age disparity is not uncommon in older adults.

i think the age gap should vary according to how young you guys are. From like 13-17 you guys should be no more then 1-2 years apart. But when you reach 18 you can go up to the 3-5 maximum of 10 years and that's pushing it. i just think of it as how old the spouse was when you were born. If they were old enough to baby sit you when you were born then that's too old.

To me the limit between rather young people is somewhere between 5-6 years. More than that it's kind of weird. Not wrong, just not normal. But when you're older even 10-15 year differences are okay.

There's an unwritten rule where you divide your age by 2 and add 7. For example, I'm 20, divide it by 2 is 10, plus 7 equals 17. The youngest girl I could date is 17. Use it as a rule of thumb. In your case, 17/2=8.5 8.5+7=15.5
15.5 would be the youngest age for this rule.

Haha, my cousin made me do that for my husband's age and came to the conclusion that he's .5 years too old for me.

Love is blind, just be smart about it and stay within the confines of the law, and the rest is purely how you feel about it. Don't need to listen to all the people who think age matters that much, as long as she's legal (which in your case, she is), don't worry about it.

Age is nothing but a number, love will always prevail, but the bad thing is the age difference is against the law in most places

There's nothing wrong with it! I never card anyone when I want to date them.
Once a girlfriend told me she was having a birthday in a few days. When I asked her if she was going to go out drinking, she laughed and said No because she was only turning 18. I was 30+. I felt weird for a few minutes but I got over it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with two high school students together. Maybe if she was in grade 8 it would be odd, but as long as you two care about each other a lot there should be no problem. Forget about what your friends are saying! I would totally have gone for a senior boy back when I was 14. Heck, when I was in grade 4 I had a crush on a grade 8 boy! It's totally normal. And if you still feel doubts, think of what they used to do back a century or more ago. 13-year-old girls with 20 to 40-year-old men. There was nothing wrong then. It was completely alright.

Being in AP classes does not constitute maturity. Having earned 30 hours in college credit from the AP program, I do not say this out of jealousy.

When I was a freshman in HS, I was asked out by a few seniors, and never really had a problem with it, because I've always been attracted to older guys. But at the time, my mom didn't want me dating any of the seniors. One of them she knew around as being a 'bad kid', so obviously she wasn't going to allow me to be with him. And the other one was off limits, because she said being that we were at two very different stages in our lives, eventually he'd be heading off to college, and we'd just grow apart. I also remember her telling me; "What is a senior going after a freshman for? --- Probably because all the girls his own age already have his number." Whether that was the case or not, I don't know. But I think it might matter more in high school, than in college. When you think about it; a 3 year age difference is nothing, when you're both in your twenties. Now, you might want to hold off.

Standard rule of creepiness applies from age 18 up. Below that it is 2 years.

You might need to be careful when you decide to have sex, read up on the relevant laws in your area.

But really, that's just over 2 years, not a big deal at all.
