What is "edging"??

I know this isn't a yes or no question,but I keep seeing the word "edging" on this site,its mentioned as a sexual term. What does it mean?? Is it normal that I don't know what it is?

    It's where you get (or your partner gets you) close to edge of orgasm without actually getting there. You carry on with this for as long as you can stand it and then (usually) finally climax. I've heard other terms used but edging is the one I personally use.

    Note of caution for men. If you do it for an extended period of time, the climax can either be mind-blowing or it can be painful and unpleasant. If you're planning on trying it, try to orgasm while semi-erect (I know this is tough but it'll be mind-blowing every time).
