What if an emo/goth went to your church?

What if an emo and/or goth went to your church? They dress in their regular apparel(no dressy apparel, just all dark clothing and skinny jeans, band shirts, combat boots, etc.) and they're trying to fit in. They try to meet other people despite what others might think of them. But at the end of the service, they say that they're an Atheist and just wanted to see what the people's reaction would be. What would you do or how would you feel if you saw an emo and/or goth at your church but DIDN'T know they were an Atheist?

I don't go to church. If I did, I wouldn't care. However, doing this simply to get a rise out of others is low.

That would indeed be pretty funny. As Neptune is the ONE TRUE GOD and his church is in the sea, these folks would be pretty funny looking with their make up running all over and them trying to swim in their boots and studs and stuff. Yep, pretty damn funny, watching those ostentatious cretins in our "church".

I'm not religious or a church-goer, but I can easily answer on behalf of religious people I know. Religious people are just normal people. Most of the religious people I know aren't weirdos and I don't think any of them would react weirdly. They might be confused about what you thought the point of doing this was, or offended that you were trying to get a reaction out of them, but then they'd continue about their day.

I suppose some hardline conservative fundamentalists might be displeased, but they aren't the majority of church-goers I know.

If I were religious, I'd probably ask,

"So what have you learnt from this experience?"

    And then,

    "Was it worthwhile?"

If they say yes, I'd say "Good. Have a nice day." And walk away.
If they said no, I'd say "Sorry to hear that. Have a nice day." And walk away.

No point getting worked up unless they start being abusive. Most Christian churches are meant to welcome everyone.

I don't go to church anymore but I used to. Despite the stereotypes, a lot of churchgoers are very friendly helpful people and I'm sure if anyone went to the right congregation, no one would give them any grief.

It also makes sense to me for people to explore & experience other belief systems. But visiting a house of worship, no matter what religion, just to stir people up is not only rude but immature... The idea of someone who needs lots of attention. And no one likes people like that.

I wouldn't be in a church but hypothetically I wouldn't care in fact certain people make the scene look seem pretty attractive.

In college most of the Goths/scene or New wave emo's were devout christians

That atheist better be careful. Cults are dangerous.

But if I were religious and he was in my church I would just try to sway any point he made back to the "fact" that the only reason he was at church was because God was calling to him. That deep down he wanted to be saved.

I would casually forget to remind him that there will be free coffee and doughnuts in the parish hall.

How Christian of you. Jesus hung around with hookers and all types. Glad to see you are following the example, hypocrite.

I would welcome them and be friendly and inviting, even if they didn't convert or anything, it's always good to be nice and meet new friends.

Who cares?... God taught us all to love one another. If we told them to gtfo, then aren't we doing the exact opposite of what God wanted us to do?

Funny. I dressed goth in high school, I was agnostic, and I went to youth group for the sake of a friend. I was bombarded that night, the whole time, until I left. About 10-15 people took turns hovering in a circle asking me the same questions in different ways for the whole 3ish hours I was there. "Why don't you believe in God?" "Why do you dress like that?" Over and over again, like they were asking until I told them "I'll stop dressing this way and I've found Jesus." I gave them a chance to convince me but they pushed me away instead. I always tried giving church a chance. I found God after I stayed away long enough. Still, not the God they were hoping for. As for the way I dressed, well I decided I could still carry my style while being mature and not spending so much time on it. It never really stopped, though. Now it's just hiding behind a 25 year old who needs to be more responsible and doesn't want any shit. You have to choose your battles more wisely at my age.

This is the most poorly constructed question I've ever seen on IIN, at least out of the ones that don't look like they were written by pet gerbils.

Is emo goth still a thing? Anyways, I don't go to church, nor am I religious in any way so idgaf. I'd actually wonder why the fuck I was at church to begin with.

This poll really needs less options. Several of the answers are practically the same...

Anyway, I stopped going to church a long time ago, but if a goth guy walked in I probably would have just glanced at him, since I don't see people in those clothes very often. I'm not an evangelist, and whatever reasons someone has for walking into a church that doesn't affect me personally aren't my business. In other words, I don't really care.

I think it would be fine if they were religious or at least wanted to understand the religion of the church but going just for attention is disrespectful.

I wouldn't care because I don't know anyone who is religious so if I accidentally stumbled into church, I'd be with another Atheist and it'd be totally fine by me.
