What happens to autistics after school?

This is something that I've always wondered, especially now that I've graduated high school- what exactly happens to autistic kids, and other mentally disabled kids after high school? What happens to them?

I wonder about this especially with the ones that have severe mental problems, the ones that constantly need supervision, or always needed special help. They aren't mentally fit enough to work in the real world, so what happens to them?

is it normal to wonder what happens to severely autistic kids, and other severely mentally disabled kids after school?

People with severe mental issues can get a job. Its in a special place, where everyone else is like that too, with some 'normal' people around to supervise.

I have a form of autism, not severe in my case. I graduated 2 years ago, I took an online language course and now I have a job selling Avon products, though I don't get paid very much and I'm wondering if it's more trouble than it's worth. I've been trying to get social security income, and when I can afford it I'll work on moving out of my parents' house.

Anyway, I'm not sure about people with worse mental problems. I guess they either stay with their parents or live in group homes.

Some live with their parents and some are sent to group homes to be taken care of when it becomes too much to handle.

I would imagine that the worst cases just stay at home with their parents. Once the parents die they become the government's responsibility.

They suffer because the majority of society is filled with assholes - autismos and aspies win - they should be promoted in to positions of power !!!!
