What gender do you identify as?

Cisgendered: You identify and behave appropriate as the gender you are born with.

Transgendered: You identify and/or act as the opposite gender you are born as.

Gender queer: You either don't identify or behave as either gender, thereby creating a third gender, or you act a bit like both genders, or you don't identify as any gender.

Gender bender: You don't act as typical for the gender you are born with, and may challenge the roles for male and females. Others might be transgendered or gender queer, but still identify as gender bender.

I may have forgotten some details, or gotten something wrong. I'm neither cisgendered, gender queer or gender bender, so I don't know much about it. Please correct me if you know more about it! I'm not here to offend you, I just don't have very much knowledge about it :)

  • Poll makes no sense. Gender is a psychological term to describe how a person behaves or speaks.

Sex is the biological description of an individual ie: male or female.

You are not 'born a gender', you are born a sex, then you realize which gender you identify with.

Ah, that is probably true. We don't have that difference in the Danish language, so I kinda forgot about it.. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

I don't know. I have a very female perspective on life but I'm a straight male. I believe in kindness, nurturing, and being good to people in ways where they don't even know they've been done good. I don't like aggression, posturing, or arrogance. And yet I do all of those things, albeit quietly and reluctantly.

If you don't act like the typical male, you may be gender bender. But if you believe that you are as normal as any other man, then you are probably cisgendered. It pretty much all depends on how you see yourself :) You can't be put in a box, even though you fit the terms.

Gender queer describes it pretty well, I'm a girl, quite tomboyish, for lack of better word, but I don't really identify myself directly as either gender, even though I'm biologically a female. Kinda feel like both sometimes, but can't really pin my actions or personality traits to one or the other.

  • I have no clue. I mean I'm a woman but I like action movies, I used to skateboard, I play video games, drink lager at times.

But on the other hand I love cats and kittens, I wouldn't be without lipgloss and mascara, I love gypsy skirts.

I'm confused now, I'm just female for goodness sake!

    Hiya,

    ♥ ~“PHEEmayl”~ ♥.

I've got very short hair because it's easier to keep it that way. Most of my interests can be enjoyed whether you're male or female (rock/blues music, fantasy/crime novels, the odd comic, etc)

I think the “best friend” thing is a myth anyway. Even if you think it at the time, you'll most likely not be soon –- then you'll feel like an idiot. I get on with everyone, but I've never had a “best friend” in my life – you can't miss what you ain't never had.

I pile the jewellery on. I luv nail varnish but the idea of a shopping/pampering day brings me out in a cold sweat (I've got some pins I’d rather stick in my eyes) I don't want to look like I’m not bothered, so I try extra-hard now, but I'd rather do things I’ll remember later. I’ve squealed my head off on the odd occasion but that was when I was really pleased about something.

I'm biologically female, but don't really like my unambiguously "feminine" shape.

I don't squeal and clap my hands like a little kid; I don't have "I luuuvv my BFFs and would DIEEEE for em! LUFYA Lucii, Amy, Bexah and Klaiirree*~*~XOXOXOXOX*~* BBFS 4 LYF <3" on my social networking profiles, and never will because I think it's gross and not true for how I feel about people; I hate how you have to be more subtle and underhand than your true personality in order to be accepted by women and I have better things to do than tell them they're sweet, kind, smart and/or strong all the time (Whether they are any of these things or not is a moot point).

I hate how women ask you to notice when they have made an unnoticeable change to their hair and the way you have to compliment them on an item of clothing/accessory they're wearing but you know you would never be seen dead in in order to make them like you and/or make them feel good - and then have them do the same for you when you can tell for a fact that they hate what you are wearing and will take the pissi out of it once your back is turned - makes me sick.

It annoys me how repressed so many of them act about sex and or guys [Does he like me? Why is he doing that? OMG guys are so weird LOL!] and I generally can't stand chick flicks, although there are a few exceptions.

However - one of my favourite colours is pink; I'm fascinated by fashion; I adore shopping for clothes, cosmetics and beauty treatments; I like high heels and I like playing with make-up [when I can be arsed!].

I like the odd pint or half-pint of real ale every now and again as much as alcopops, spirits and wine; I like videogames even though I've not really played one for many years now and don't often play fighting games/shoot-em-ups; I would love to have both sets of genitals (And have done from a young age) and I don't really understand women in general.

You're equally likely to catch me in a Taylor Momsen-style ensemble of skanky black dress, hold-ups and bovver boots; generic jeans/shorts/miniskirt, T-shirt and trainers; the odd pretty, floaty, pastel affair; boob tube and/or miniskirt and scene brat gear.

I'm growing my hair long right now because I want the underneath dyed blue, but I've had hair as short as Rocket from Sucker Punch and down to my boobs, as well as fair few in-between cuts. I've dyed it many different colours and changed my style many times.

I'm in the process of experimenting with gyaru fashion of various kinds because I feel like I have to look more "feminine" and "pretty" to be accepted as a woman by society.
However, no matter how much the clothes scream "I LOOK LIKE A CUTE, FEMININE, SHY PRETTY GIRL AND THAT IS WHAT I AM", I would still feel very masculine and awkward.

i'd like to be girlier, i mean they look like they have a lot of fun, but at the same time i can't do typical girl behaviour. (especially if it means emitting high pitched squeals while bobbing up and down on toes and baby clapping) I just also dont care if i get splashed by wate, imnot gonna melt!

I am a cisgendered female, but I believe I understand the reason for conducting this poll. I had a nice friend in college who told me she was really a guy inside and that she hated being female. I have lost touch with her, but I'm pretty sure she was going to have a sex change. Yes, she did act male in some ways, just her demeanor. I think we all wonder what it would be like to be the other sex, but if I were to become a male it would be awful because I'm just not wired that way. I like traditional girl things, including cosmetics, wearing dresses and girl talk in general.

isnt that just sexist though? just because i am a girl, that doesnt mean i have to or want to play with dolls or wear make up all the time. why put a label on it? so because i am a girl and like cars, does that make me gender confused? sounds a bit silly to me.

i totally agree with you. people trying to identify as a different gender are just seeking attention. i dont care what "gender" i am, i just wear comfortable clothes which fit my body, sometimes my hair is long and sometimes it is short. and as for hobbies or whatever if you think some things are just for girls or just for boys then ur a sexist.

And no, I don't belive in 'girlthings' and 'boythings'. I was raised without gender-labels, and if I want to dress as most male do, or as most females do, then I do that. I don't believe in labelling people as their sex, based on their hair, clothes or hobbies, but on what they identify as them self.

            Comment Hidden ( show )
          • Nightmares

Why do you believe that they want attention? People label each other all the time, it's only natural, but if people look at you and label you as the wrong sex, then it's only natural that you feel offended. If someone called a cisgendered male for a women, he would be offended! It has nothing to do with clothes.

I'm not labeling you, I'm asking you what you consider yourself as. If you believe that you are cisgendered female, then that is what you are!

IMHO, there's not enough fluidity in these terms. I'm male, like mostly "male stuff" (but hate how entertainment is gender labeled), but there are times I like to emulate the opposite sex and engage in acts considered hyperfeminine. (Though again, I hate the notion of things like gender roles, and sometimes I see myself as an attack on such standards.)

Going by the definition laid out for "gender bender," I don't feel I fit that definition. (I personally see myself as a sissy.)

I am a woman, and love being one...aside from that time of month.. HOWEVER, I really really, want a penis. They look like so much more fun...any easier to maintain. I am extremely depressed I will never get to penetrate. I guess that is just penis envy.. but it sucks, a lot!

A female. Duh! I was born one and that is what I will stay as... Some ppl. Smh at you clowns getting your genitals changed and whatnot. I mean you can be bi or gay or whatever and still stay the same gender you were born. Changing yourself will just confuse the hell out of ppl and cost a whole sh-t load of un-necessary money that could be used on something else. I mean I am bi-sexual but I would never get a sex change. For no one.
