No need to grouse about it. At least you're not out robin for a living.

I'm in a strange situation in my country I feel like I will never save money fast enough to buy property as property prices rise as quickly as my savings. But I could afford to buy whatever luxury items I want as I have given up ever saving the money so I sometimes feel rich even though I am basically poor. I mostly live cheaply anyway though and try to grow my basically worthless savings.

Why is it that when you ask people who don't have a pot to piss in what "class" they consider themselves, they always say "upper middle class"?

I don't know how much money you have to have to be in which class. I consider myself middle class.

On paper, you're generally quite poor, but what you actually have could be millions.

It's basically an art of hiding assets, being broke on paper for various reasons (tax evasion, benefits, judgement-proofing, etc) but still maintaining a certain desired lifestyle.

Ah.. I have never heard that term used for that before. Interesting.

I'm working class, but I personally don't view that as being synonymous with poor. I don't view myself as poor. I mean, I'm typing this on a bloody computer, how poor can I be? But yeah, definitely working class. Also, I don't agree with the view that money buys class. I won't ever see myself as anything else, regardless of how much money I have.

The third one. If I go by my own income I am poor. However if you go by college standard I must go off my parents income. Since they are apparently meant to pay for me till I am 30.

My family was poor, so I used to be poor. But I think now that i've moved out and I have my career, I've probably graduted to lower middle class. I'm getting up there lol Slowly but surely

In my country I'm the upper-middle class. I can buy myself a very decent house and I live a very comfortable life. With my income I would be considered poor in the USA.

In my country I'm in the middle or maybe lower middle class. In the USA I'd probably be upper middle class and in the third world I'd be insanely rich. But then again everything is more expensive here.

I am working class, which, in my country is lower but not lowest class. It's a class above poverty. That's about it. I'm a few grand away from middle class but I'm hoping that after I finish college, I can improve this.

Firmly middle class. I don't see myself as "upper middle" or "lower middle" within that.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Depends on where I am... If I'm in a very poor third world country, money is considered to be coming out of my ears.... if I'm anywhere that uses the Euro.... I'm considered to be peasant-like.

I'm the class in which I've never slept hungry,I wear good clothes, I study in one of the best schools, and what ever useful I want is ready to be served..
but my father works HARD for all that, he works and works like a laborer and cuts off all his requirements and fulfills our needs ...

you know whats that called MIDDLE CLASS !! you're all good but only you know how..
