I see strange posts by what appears to be complete morons and I always see people calling them trolls. What exactly are they? Is it just another name for an idiot? I always thought a troll was someone I guess like sencoring posts and deleting innapropriate posts...I'm obviously way off!
Basically everyone on this website will call you a troll unless you are part of some original elite band of users.
I have been called a middle aged man, a little boy, everything but what I actually am.
A troll is someone who creates a post just to get a reaction and enrage the forum. Usually something, they themselves, don't believe and usually a lie.
This forum uses the term way to often.
I'm one of the oldest users still here and I have been called a troll too before when I absolutely was not trolling. I quit making posts loooooooong ago because either the site management fucked with me and deleted my post or the users were like 'oh heh troll'? It's crazy how a genuine post gets shit but the stupid bull crap gets put through just fine. The site management sucks and always has. He still can't tell the difference between good and bad users and what's good for the site.
Agree. I may do bizarre and perverse things, but I feel my posts are legitimate for a site with the name "Is It Normal?" If it was normal, why would there be a need for this site and so many followers. If you don't want to read about the bizarre and perverse, find a site that doesn't provide a forum for people like me. I know I'm not normal, but I enjoy my perversion!
Sorry to say, I also was confused about what a troll is.
And, yes I've been accused of it a time or 2.
I thought a troll was like a detective or Mike Walsh type.
Trying to egg people into saying something incriminating.
As it turns out, it's just saying shit to get a response.
I don't do that, but I do ask questions and have opinions that are very Not Normal.
Trolls do things like lie, play characters, and offend others for the purpose of getting a reaction, usually anger. Selfish people who think their amusement is more important than anyone else, basically.
Trolls are the people who downright shitpost. Everyones goal at trolling may be different but the object is to subtile yet not blantly annoying. Most people cant do it or they dont care enough to try, and thats when you get the shitposters here (or elsewere).
They are people who joke about things and mess with you on the internet, to the point where you are confused or irritated by (Whichever their intend makes you end up feeling like). Mostly so they can get a good laugh out of it. It's like one of those pranks you pull on your friend except it's on the internet and being performed by a complete stranger.
Ya I never really got involved with forums and online chatting until I stumbled upon this site, and of course back in the day with good old AOL.
AOL, brings back memories. Good old AIM, how time flies.
Trolls are shitstirrers & wind up merchants.
Some are patently obvious, some are more subtle.
Administrators & moderators generally police forums, deleting inappropriate/offensive/illegal posts. In essence admins/mods attempt to exercise some control over the aforementioned trolls.
Just see the post from the asshole who wants to help the "Non-troll nutcases" The very definition of a faggot little troll.
