What does your iq really mean?

I've taken a few IQ tests in my life and the results varied a helluva lot. All scores said that im at least intelligent and most said gifted or very superior. But the variation from test to test was huge. I've gotten results from 116 to 144.

I didn't always do well in school. My family braggs that I was a straight a student, but the truth is there were times that I was a straight d student.

What gives? Do IQ tests mean anything or not?

The main thing any test measures is how good you are at taking that particular type of test. People can do very well on academic exams if they have the knack of regurgitating facts or have learned how to perform some task by rote, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have a deep understanding of the subject, it doesn't mean they can apply their knowledge in real-world situations, and it doesn't mean they won't have forgotten everything they learned for the test in three months.

There has been debate about what IQ tests actually measure for as long as they have existed. People can do well on IQ tests and prove to be utterly incapable of performing a useful role in society or even doing reasonably well in school.

If you're having problems at school, then I'd suggest there's either a problem with how you're being taught, you aren't applying yourself, or - regardless of what IQ you supposedly have - you're simply not suited for academic pursuits.

Many people believe there are several types of intelligence, and IQ tests attempt to measure only a narrow range of these. Perhaps your real abilities lie in some direction you haven't yet discovered.

It might be an ego booster but a high IQ isn't going to help anything in the real world.

I don't put any weight in IQ.

Everyone has the potential to make a lasting impact and lead an amazing life!

Some of the smartest people in the world are miserable bastards and some are wonderful. The same is true for the other end of the spectrum.

IQ tests were first made for kindergarten students and never meant to be used on everyone

Where did you take those IQ tests? If you took it on Internet, well, those tests online aren't accurate at all.

Don't take them too seriously. For what I know, most internet IQ tests DON'T EVEN ASK FOR YOU AGE.There are a couple of different IQ testing systems, and they ALL require your age.

Even if you took the real IQ test in some sort of serious test centers, there are vital flaws in IQ tests. A person's intelligence is unbelievably complicated and can hardly be summarized into a single number. There is rational quotient, also a part of intelligence, and etc.

Of course, IQ tests do have their values -- they give you a rough idea of how good you are at reasoning & etc,but even this book specifically about IQ tests said that IQ tests are seriously flawed.

I can write essays about the Paleolithic/neolithic transition but basic maths makes me want to cry. Intelligence is subjective and IQ tests are not.
