Obesity is a clinical term relating to BMI, which isn't a particularly useful measurement as it doesn't take into account muscle mass or anything other than height and weight. It also only works marginally well for people of average height (1830-50's average anyway) and so applying it today IMO isn't a good idea.

Percentage body fat is a much more useful measurement. BMI can be used for quick calculations but it's practically worthless as a catch-all. Bone density, muscular versus non muscular, and a few more factors are important in calculating any actual health measurement.

They all look obese to me.
Remember obese doesn't mean if you look good or not, it just means dangerously overweight. These women are dangerously overweight, they could be perfectly lovely people besides but it doesn't change their weight.

B is a bit deceiving though because I think she probably carries a lot her weight in her thighs, I think without the skirt she would look very overweight.

Some people are just naturally larger. It's not detrimental to their health if that's the way they were made. Just sayin'.

I have a wonderful friend who is rather a "big" girl. She is not over weight... she's just... herself. She is one of the healthiest people I have met, and she exercises regularly. But according to the standards of most of the comments I've read, she would be considered "obese." I definitely understand what you mean when some people are just naturally large. Humans sure do have weird reactions when they can't seem to categorize others. Like the girl in picture B.

"I think she carries a lot of weight in her thighs." okay then... you seem to be one of the few human beings to have x-ray vision.

With all do respect and no offense intended- No one is just naturally larger unless you are talking about bone structure. Fat is fat regardless if it was added throughout your life from childhood up. Sure some people gain weight much easier than others because of genetics and other factors but some are just bad diet and lack of exercise. Those people can lose weight and shed fat just like everyone else it just takes the proper diet and exercise to do it. Most big people have built up a wall of excuses why they are big and why they can't lose weight. It's not their fault, usually it's because of a parent or significant other that has conditioned them for years telling them they are beautiful just the way they are or giving them sweets to make them happy. They are enablers and enablers have good intentions at heart but are bad for the person that is obese. Being unhealthy is not beautiful. I know lots of large people and most of them are ultra nice and beautiful on the inside but lets be realistic, there is nothing beautiful about being obese or unhealthy regardless of what excuses they have. For the record I'm not talking about people with large frames, I'm talking about people with high BMI's or obese as in unhealthy fat. Stop making excuses.

The way they were made? No ones made to look like that. They are that way because of what they eat, and how much exercise they don't do. If the poster posted pictures of skinny models, people would be on here slating them.

Yes, while a lot of people are that way because of a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle, genetics also play a part in it. I knew someone who avidly exercised and ate a proper diet and she was still thicker than average.

And I'm not saying that people can't be naturally skinny, too. Again, I know some people who can eat like a horse and not gain a pound.

Look up Fluvia Lacerda, those are some pretty thick thighs. You might be getting thrown off because she has that pear shaped body type.

She looks great actually but she is definitely obese. I don't know if she would look better thin but she would be healthier and that is more important.

I looked her up before I commented, because I had a feeling that the picture in the description didn't really show her figure properly. She's just not someone I see as being obese. I can understand overweight, though.

If she is obese, then I think the thing that's threw me off is that she has a very obvious figure. C and D have sort of lost their figure. So, maybe you're right.:) I just can't imagine that being considered obese, and I'm still really surprised that so many people do. Either way, she is very attractive. And, yeah, I agree about her health being more important.

B is a full figured and voluptuous woman.
C does not appeal to me really at all. She looks unhealthily overweight. D looks like she carries a shitton of weight under the dress but she is doing a good job of concealing it.

I am mostly attracted to B. I am not prejudiced against those who are overweight because I do believe that weight and beauty aren't always contingent on one another. That said, I don't think previous aesthetic standards (obese women were considered beautiful in the 1700's) is good justification for "obesity acceptance". Rib-breaking within corsets for tiny waists in Europe and breaking toes to make feet unnaturally small in China were also considered acceptable beauty standards back in the day, but I think we can all agree that harming yourself in that manner is wrong and quite frankly, stupid.

I'm a little surprised by the "they were right back then" logic, especially considering that it was quite a dark age for science and knowledge in general.

B is kind of close to the line, but still over it IMO. There's still no doubt in my mind that she's at an unhealthy weight and would be much, much healthier if she were 20 lbs lighter. It is kind of deceiving though because of the dress that B is wearing.

The others are just way over. Look at C's legs and D's arms.

B looks overweight, but not obese.

    C and D look obese.

Physically, B isn't a turn-off for me, so I could date her. Overweight but within the realm of normality. I don't find C and D's weight attractive, so based on superficial factors I wouldn't date them.

Only D looks obese to me. C looks on the heavier side of overweight, not quite obese though. B looks nothing like obese to me, not even close. I guess I'll have to re-evaluate what "obese" means to me if all of those are considered it.

B looks attractive, no question about it. C and D are a little too much, but I wouldn't rule them out completely because it's hard to tell from the picture.

EDIT: In fact, C and D look almost the same to me.

I'd be friends with C. She's overweight but has a pretty face. Most people I know of this size are really cool people.

I'd probably only talk casually with D. D is obese, but doesn't disgust me. She looks a little silly though and I probably don't have much in common with her.

Obesity looks to me like it resembles SIZE OVER HEIGHT!!! For example, many people assume that an obese woman is weak. Weak? In many cases, FAR FROM IT!!! In many cases, obese women, including short obese women, ARE INCREDIBLY STRONG!!! They are capable of moving and lifting very heavy objects. Being the tall skinny man that I am, I know from enough experience that an obese woman, including a short obese woman, is physically way stronger than I am. Such an obese woman often has very large muscles underneath her fat which is a major reason why she can carry all her weight and also why she can lift very heavy objects (due to the large size of the muscles in her arms). One day, I observed a short obese woman lifting weights (she was VERY SHORT AND VERY FAT while I was VERY TALL AND VERY SKINNY!!!). I towered over her BY MORE THAN A FOOT (my 6-foot-1 vs. her 4-foot-9) while she outweighed me BY WELL OVER FIFTY POUNDS (her 200 pounds vs. my 125 pounds). I watched her while she easily lifted a big, heavy, fully-loaded barbell RIGHT UP OVER HER HEAD!!! The barbell itself outweighed me considerably which is why I knew right then and there that she was capable of easily lifting ME right up over her head!!! In sharp contrast, there is no way that I was ever able to lift anything near my own bodyweight over my head. I noticed that her arms were much larger than mine due, in large part, to her muscles being way bigger than mine. She walked over to me. She and I both stood in front of each other. Her body was so much bigger than my body that I felt just like an insect while I was standing in front of her!!! She boldly challenged me, right there on the spot, to do what I just saw her do. While I was looking way down at her, she looked way up at me and then she said to me: "Now let's see you do it!!!" I already knew I was way too skinny to do it even though I stood well over a foot taller than she did. Of course, I had no choice but to try because of her having already challenged me. I tried while she watched me. I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT ABOVE MY KNEES!!! She and I stood in front of each other once again. It was obvious that she easily outlifted me. While she was looking way up at me, I looked way down at her and then I congratulated her on her easy victory over me. I reached down and then I gave her a congratulatory kiss (I gently pressed my lips up against hers) which turned into a long, tender, passionate kiss after she wrapped her arms around me. It was obvious that her having easily outlifted me the way she did turned her on and it turned me on as well. I learned it really turned her on how a very short, very large woman like her easily outlifted a very tall, very small man like me who stood way taller than she did. I was equally turned on being the very tall, very small man who stood way taller than the very short, very large woman who easily outlifted me. It was incredible how much I towered way over her while the size of her body far exceeded mine. In fact, I stood so much taller than she did that my nipples actually rose well above her mouth (they were LEVEL WITH HER EYES!!!). She and I began gently but firmly caressing each other. The chemistry was definitely there but it was obvious that we shouldn't go further at that point because she and I had just met. There was a sofa nearby. She and I walked over and sat down on the sofa where we both began conversing with each other in order to get to know each other better. She and I then lay down on the sofa where we resumed kissing and caressing each other. The kissing and the caressing continued -- FOR HOURS!!!

I especially believe it to be "a sexual thing" with a short obese woman who gets turned on after she physically overpowers a tall skinny man who towers way over her while she far outweighs him. Before my above-mentioned experience, I walked into a NYC club where I observed an incredibly strong short obese woman engaging in various one-on-one physical tests of strength with tall skinny men who towered way over her while her body size far exceeded theirs -- AND SHE WAS BEATING ALL OF THOSE GUYS!!! She was interested only in challenging, and then defeating, tall skinny men. She ignored all of the other men and she ignored all of the women including tall skinny women. She focused only on challenging tall skinny men who towered way over her while their body size was much smaller than hers. As soon as she spotted me, she walked right over to me and then she immediately challenged me. It was obvious to her that I towered way over her while she far outweighed me. I accepted her challenge but not before I asked her some questions. I asked her if she lifts weights. She told me "yes." And then she told me she stood 4-foot-10 and she weighed 257 pounds. I told her I stood 6-foot-1 and I weighed 125 pounds which meant I was "the perfect specimen" for her because she knew right then and there that she was more than double my weight while I stood well over a foot taller than she did. I asked her what she bench pressed. She told me she regularly bench pressed 175 pounds fifteen times which is 15 reps (she could easily bench press ME fifteen times!!!). No tall skinny man as tall as I am and as skinny as I am can bench press anything even approaching that. I already knew I was no match for her. She and I began engaging each other, one-on-one, in various physical tests of strength. SHE EASILY DEFEATED ME IN ALL OF THEM!!! She sat me down and then she started kissing me the way I saw her kissing some of the other tall skinny men who she easily defeated. That's how I knew that defeating tall skinny men turned her on. It all seemed rather weird to me but I understood why she had the type of attraction that she had physically overpowering tall skinny men. I figured one reason was because: She was very short in stature and it was obvious that her having easily defeated tall skinny men like me who towered way over her made her feel all the more proud of herself (a short female physically overpowering a tall male). I remember when she walked over to a tall skinny man who she beat earlier that evening. As with the others, he towered way over her while she far outweighed him. And then, while they were both standing in front of each other, she looked way up at him and then she said to him: "Are you behaving yourself?" He looked way down at her and then he said to her: "Yes." She then said to him while she continued looking way up at him: "Good." "Then I won't have to floor you."

They are all technically obese, but in this country (America)MOST people are! I was the size of B throughout high school in the early 90's...and was teased and treated horribly. My daughter is in high school now, and when I go to her school, it seems like EVERYONE looks like B or even bigger now. I don't think this makes them ugly, lazy, or terrible people though! It is hard NOT to get fat in this country! But it is very unhealthy and if we keep allowing and accepting obesity as the norm, then people are going to start dying younger and younger. We were not meant to carry around all that extra weight.

Hard to tell by the pictures because they all have dresses on but they all seem overweight. C-D look obese. B might be. Technically, I'm certain all three are based on the BMI scale. Then again, so was Emmitt Smith in his prime. Clearly these girls don't possess his muscle mass.

I would date/marry someone with that kind of figure, but only if they were in decent shape when we started dating. If I met someone at that size, it would probably prevent me from ever having romantic interest in them. First impressions.
