Haha, I guess somebody had to!
Contrary to popular belief, almost non of the products you hear so much about from your salon stylist & see so much of on television do anything good on a long term basis for your hair. Usually, all they do is coat the hair follicles or strip them of your own healthy, natural oils.
I stopped using anything but baby shampoo & kukui nut oil four years ago & I only wash my hair once -no rinse-and-repeating- every other day or even once every two days & ever since:
No more dandruff, oily hair, severe dryness or breakage. My scalp is healthy & my hair is always soft, strong & shiny.
The kukui nut oil is only once every one or two weeks for the very ends of my hair.
It's actually better to go a few days between washes to allow the natural oils to work through the hair.
But you're right, most shampoos just strip the hair, and the conditioner then coats it. The heavy perfumes cover over the "dirty hair" odor. Tea tree oil application will deodorize nicely.
Way ahead of you, darling.
I do a tea tree oil treatment once or twice in the winter months if I show even the slightest sign of dandruff developing.
Also, I've committed to weening myself off of washing with anything but water, a bit of baking soda & apple cider vinegar if necessary as a conditioner -& I plan to have to do even that much as rarely as possible. Au natural, baby.
Someone must be quite disgruntled to thumb down on a hair comment. Whatever. I have dreads, so I don't want to lose my knots, duh
Keep rockin' the dreads! :D
i wish i had some but my hair is too thin unfortunately :/
:) by the time I die, if I still have them, I'll be able to cacoon myself within my hair. Its already just past my assssssss :D I don't plan on cutting my hair anytime in the future. Its taken 9 years to get this long.
its not too bad, but I think it takes more work than people assume. However, for the forming of them, I let it happen naturally, just made sure they stayed seperate. You have to make sure they stay seperated as your hair grows, otherwise they will merge together. If they are too thin, they can break off. Contrary to popular belief, you have to wash them, but not too often. A few times a week is pretty good. You can dye them as well, it just takes longer to wash out, and longer to wash it in general. my arms get sore actually :) It takes all day to dry completly, too. But its worth it for me. I love my hair and so do a lot of people. Also, less than half of my ends are blunt, like most peoples are all blunt tips. Mine are special, more feminine looking. No brown tapered turds for me! :D (Brown ones are nice, but mine are much less common, around here, anyway :))
I use a mixture of beer, eggs and urine, works great for me, people like the shine but not the smell
My entire life nothing but a bar of Zest deodrant soap. Never had any hair related problems. Silky, and not grey.
Just moisturising shampoo about twice a week. Maybe once a month or so I'll use the conditioner that comes with the bleach I use just for a lil extra softness, cus my hair isn't exactly silk
I only use conditioner. I heard that if you just use conditioner that your hair is less likely to fall out later on in life.
That is not true and it's kinda gross, dude.
But I wasn't the one to give you a thumbs-down, that was someone else having a bad day.
Last time I used shampoo, it made my hair more Scragly? I don't know a better word to describe it. How is it gross? Just wondering.
Well, the shampoo is for washing away dirt, bacteria, and oils, but the soap/detergent is harsh and also strips away the oils that make your hair stay soft and healthy when you rinse it out. Using conditioner restores the moisture that was lost in the act of shampooing. If you are only using conditioner, without any soap first, then you're effectively not getting clean enough and just adding more grease.
I could get really technical about it, but I'll save you.
I began losing my hair at 31. I found a soap called Dettol, which is made for white people who live in the tropics and have skin problems from the heat.
Since I have used that soap on my scalp, scrubbing vigorously, I have lost no more hair and it's been over 30 years.
I will use a shampoo and separate conditioner occasionally, but the Dettol seems to be fine.
No, I don't sell the stuff, nor do I have stock in the company; I'm just trying to help.
I only use conditioner, except for every few months when I think about it. Shampoo strips afro/kinky hair of oils.
Depends: if I plan on putting up my hair, I don't condition it, if I'm going to straighten my hair, I DO condition it, and if I'm leaving my hair natural I use them at the same time. I only wash my hair every two or three days, though.
Right now i'm not sure what shampoo brand its called but i got it at whole foods. It has Tea Tree Oil and its done a pretty good job. I try not to use so much conditioner afterwards since it makes my hair fall out so i avoid it on the scalp and just put conditioner on the tips.
Shampoo and conditioner. I have to condition my hair, it's quite long. It's painful to comb it out after a shower when I forget the conditioner - lots of knots. But, a little goes a long way though.
i hate washing my hair. i go as long as possible. my hair is so coarse that it doesnt get oily fast
garnier frutics leinght and streinght shampoo and conditioner seperatley.
Shampoo, then conditioner. But only conditioner on the longer part of my hair.
And only every other day (sometimes 2 days). Washing too many times a week strips your hair of its natural oils.
I will never wash my hair without conditioner or else that shit will turn into a friggin' afro. I'd rather not use the shampoo. I don't mind using shampoo and conditioner combined but I'd rather have it seperately.
