What do you think of when you think of northern ireland?

What do foreigners think of when they think of northern Ireland? I guess it's probably bombs and alcoholics.

You want to know what foreigner thinks?

Well if I was to guess I would I think foreigner would say...

you're as cold as ice, willing to sacrifice our love.

You never take advice, someday you'll pay the price I know

I seen it before it happens all the time, closing the door and leave the world behind.

You digging for gold but you throw it away, a fortune in feeling someday you'll pay

Cold as ice, you know that you are, cold as ice, as cold as ice to me!!!!!

It's a place where Protestants marry Catholics, and then emigrate to America so that their families aren't beaten and bombed.

I met a guy from Belfast once who told me some pouf drugged and buggered him when he was 15. He told me that he saw the pouf out later and smashed a beer bottle of over his head. This poor guy's name was Sean and he was an alcoholic.

There are a lot of people here who grew up in the 60's - early 90's pretty much all of whom have some sort of terrible story to tell. I know people who were tortured and received punishment beatings etc.

It's crazy how fast things have changed though, since the late 90's it has become like any other western European country. Kids here under the age of about 20 mostly have no clue about what has happened over the years. There is still the odd bit of trouble but it's more like gangs these days.

What I think? Should be a part of Ireland.

Seriously: A 2nd Ireland, which should be a part of ireland, but religion did not allow it.

I think of Carrickfergus, as that's where I live. In general, I associate N.I with sheep and country side and Ulster accents.

Northern Ireland is part of the UK and the Republic of Ireland is an independent country. So yes, I guess northern Ireland is like north Korea with the amount of surveillance.
