What do you think of the german driving test?
Like most other countries around the world it is a two part test a theory and a practical. However, before being aloud to even take either of these tests you must go though an eye test which you have to do in most countries but unlike most other countries before you do your two part test you must also complete an 8 hour first aid course.
In Germany they seem to not really learn in their own private cars but through driving schools which have dual controls. The driving school also handles all the paper work, including applying for a licence etc. The driving school is like your one stop shop for everything.
You have to do so many lessons and the driving school keeps track of class attendance. The driving school will take you on all sorts of roads in all sorts of driving situations including lessons on how to drive on the motorway, how to drive in the dark and how to drive in rural areas etc.
Driving schools are aloud to insist a student attends a certain number of lessons before they let the person get behind the wheel.
An authorised inspector comes to the driving school to hold any exams. The driving school is not aloud to do this part. The idea is to stop driving schools passing students that should not be passed.
Students must not have a gap of more than 12 months between passing their theory and taking the practical driving tests.
After each exam by the authorised inspector that has come to the driving school students get the results strait away. The licence is then handed over by the authorised inspector not the driving school.
Like I said the driving school does the teaching but the exams are done by the authorised inspector and the licence is also handed over by the authorised inspector that visits the driving school. This is to stop the driving school passing students that should not be on the road.
