Abstract art is a common art form used by many artists.

No matter how you think it looks, art is subjective, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Some are good :) if it's abstract, it allows you to see, whatever YOU wanna see and not whatever the hell it was supposed to be. This is good, I suppose.
I don't think artists can or should always try to make their art realistic.
I'm pretty indifferent to the visual arts. I'm more interested in whatever I'm involved in and how it involves me, whether its art or whatever.
Right now I'm involved in listening to tunes. But I do like it when it makes sense to me.
I Love abstract art! I know some people hate it because they say that it's not a figure or something easily recognized, but sometimes it's not about what figure you've drawn or painted; sometimes its about the colors and what they mean to the artist. And i think that's what art is all about. (:
I think, 'What in the world am I looking at'. I don't get it, I don't understand it but the colors are nice.. Most of the time, haha.
I love abstract art. Art history is pack-full of them. A particular category I love is Anime (yes, it's considered abstract :])!
So I would just LOOOVE to see those cute little 3 year old children draw that JUST as beautiful as a professional manga artist. Since after all, the votes on the polls have "A 3 year old can make 'em just as good" on the lead.

Sometimes it is just too euphemistically theoretical.
But then there's Jackson Pollock.
I'm an artist and I think it's stupid, unimaginative, overrated, artsy-fartsy bullcrap for rich dumbasses who know nothing of self-expression and will throw money at it because it is labelled "art".
Check out this artist Mark Rothko and you'll see what I mean.
Wow how can you even consider yourself an artist? Art shouldn't be good because a normal person can make it. The idea behind abstract art is that it expresses raw human emotion. It doesn't follow the rules of reality. I say abstract art is 10 times better than realistic art. Realistic art is so unimaginative and dull. Mark Rothko is one of the most amazing abstract artists that ever lived. He had guts to do what he did. Most people would be afraid to send art like that into the world because they would be scared of being judged. Take some time to learn about what art is before you put down other artists. Some peopl break down crying when they see a painting by Mark Rothko, and whatever kind of art you do, I doubt it can EVER express as much emotion as an abstract piece of art.
I like it as a concept just as I like the concept of magical realism in literature (Gabriel García Márquez will always be my favourite author) but there is so much bad abstract art out there that it gets a bad name universally, just as there is so much bad poetry, bad literature, and bad music. But with abstract art, it's often difficult to say exactly why it's bad because our language isn't descriptive about certain types of art (in the same way it's barely descriptive at all about how things taste - how would you describe the taste of grape juice in a way that let people know it was grape rather than apple? Without spefically using the word grape or any of the other properties of the juice apart from taste, it's impossible).
Abstract art just proves that society's artists have run out of ideas.
By the way "magical realism" is a fancy word for writing about fictional items and objects in a casual manner, as if they were nothing special.

I like when abstract art is combined with surrealist or realistic art. I don't like abstract art as a stand-alone artwork that much, but it is okay too.

Abstract art is an expression of your own sensitivity. It is supposed to represent what you want it to be; not caring how it will be judged.
I guess it comes down to the question 'what is art?'... others may define abstract art 'art' and others may say realism is 'art'. either way i dont think anyone is right or wrong.
I like abstract painting, drawings, and digital pictures. But I think it's a bit stupid sometimes.. such as that guy who made a sculpture of sanitary towels, or that other guy who just wrote his name on a urinal.
Anyone who said a three year old can make them are noobs to art, lots of thought needs to go into a good abstract.
Never understood it, but then again I'm a photographer and am all about the realism.
some of it gives me a strange emotional reaction so i figure it must be good, but i like the old masters and impressionism
It is crap that 3 year old kids can draw and it is called "avant garde" by a bunch of sychophants who want to form and be part of a pseudo-intellectual clique.
