What do you mainly look for in a long term partner?

attractive, good personality, and employed.

I'm a girl and I look for a guy who has the following:

1. A brain. He doesn't have to be really smart, but at least not a complete dumbass. Plus, common sense too. I actually favor common sense a little more than the regular book smart type. But either is fine. And I noticed the guys who have a little more smarts, easily carry a conversation better. Sometimes I think thats good for me, because it makes me feel more comfortable knowing that they're actually trying, then I begin to talk more. It makes up for me in a way, I guess.

2. Must have a good sense of humor. I don't laugh as often as I think I should, so a guy who can make me laugh would be awesome.

3. Decent looking. I don't pay a lot of attention to the body, but they should at least be healthy looking. Not 500 pounds, or skinnier then me.(And I'm skinny!) And I'm mainly about the face, so if they have a good looking face, thats a good thing. I'm not really picky choosy about anything else. But I noticed I'm into dark eyes on men more than lighter eyes.

4. Accents are hot. But if they don't have one..., its ok. Some things can be overlooked.

5. This ties into #1; I hope they're aware of whats happening around them (around the world). Its nice when they watch the news/read the newspaper. Just keeping themselves updated with whats going on out there is nice.

6. That they have a job. And if they don't, that they're at least looking for one.

7. That they like music. They don't have to like the exact type of music as myself, but seriously, if they don't like music at all... thats just crazy.

8. Must have some common ground to walk on. We should have not all, but at least some of the same interests. (And I don't think I'd be able to deal with a guy who says hes scared of the ocean.) And he would like to travel if given the chance, because I wanna travel.

9. Wants kids in the future.

10. And obviously these are big ones: Honesty, trustworthiness, non-judgemental of others, morals, and I would hope they have some belief in God. I'm not like a crazy religious type, but I do believe in God, and I try to go to church at least once in a while. So...

Some of the things on here, its possible I could overlook, and I might've missed some other things on my list, but thats about it. Oh yeah, and they better like me for me and be kinda family oriented. And not a cheater. And they need to be financially secure.

Long list: Intelligent, funny, likes animals, honest, quirky, creative, balanced, open-minded, independent, cuddly, curious, affectionate, understanding, patient, kinky, dependable, likes music (a singing voice is a huge bonus, as is an instrument played), interesting eyes, nice lips, and noteworthy hair (the reason of note is unimportant, be it ultra-long, dreadlocked, blue, pink, or just noticeable for some other reason).

Although if you asked my friends what I liked, you'd get a very different answer. They'd say socially awkward, androgynous, vegetarian, arty-type. Although they can't name a single ex who falls into that category, they insist that's what they catch me gazing wistfully at. I'd agree on the androgynous, but that's all.

I don't think most people really know who they will want to be sleeping next to in twenty years. It's simply because you just don't know who the hell you'll be in 20 years.

Someone I can connect with.

Someone who is decent looking and willing to keep in good health and good shape. Financially conservative, I couldn't spend the rest of my life with a spender. Some shared interests, and good enough communication skills to share them. A good communicator is a must, patient and not horribly insecure (as in my hanging out with other men wouldn't bring hellfire upon me). Employment, ownership of a vehicle, independent and has shared values (wanting kids, is of the same religion or tolerates mine without giving me any hell, values education and good morals) and is patient enough to tolerate my bullshit.

someone i love spending time with and when there not with me i think about them and miss them and they feel the same way. someone who after spending 1 whole week with me like 24-7 still loves me and wants to be with me. oh and good looking lol but not to much that i have to fight other girls off him all the time ^^ just someone who i can share my feelings with and who can handle my crazyness.

Well to be honest I am so ugly that any person who can stand to be around me for 5 mins is pretty rare. Oh and the B.O. may have something to do with that as well.

He's caring, sweet, funny, loves airsoft and video games, loves sports, takes care of himself, employed, and obviously SUPER cute <3 =D

Obviously employment isn't especially relevant for me because of my age, but I'm not sure if unemployment would bother me or not, so long as it didn't come with an attitude of laziness and boringness.

A more accurate way of looking at it, in terms of my requirements, would be someone who "lives within their means". That is, someone who spends no more than they earn, doesn't have heaps of debt, isn't constantly relying on friends and family for money, etc. In a way, that links in with having a good personality and being a "nice person".

She has to be funny, I spend about 90% of my day cracking jokes and trying to make people laugh, and I have to have a girl who can be that with me!

Obviously she has to be decent enough looking for me to have interest, but she doesn't have to be a perfect ten by any means.

I look for a gut with a good personality and who I feel safe with, like nothing could harm me or go wrong.

Looks are little to nothing. I've been talking to this girl for a few years now (I'd rather not say her name, privacy sake) and she may not be the most beautiful girl on the outside, but I've never felt better around some one before. We have so much fun together; he hang out pretty often. She tells me everything about her, and of course I do the same about my self for her. It's always nice to have someone to turn to when you need someone to talk to, and we've always been there for one another. This is why I like her so much. We click on so many things, and after a while, I realized that appearance doesn't even matter to me.
