What do you like and what do you dislike about your country?

The thing i like most about my country is that you can walk alone on the street at any time of the day and be safe.
And my country makes the best chocolate.

I don't like that our football national team sucks.

What about yours?

    I'm from New Zealand.

I like the scenery here. We're nuclear-free, largely LGBT friendly and the first country to give women the right to vote. The temperature is fairly nice all year round (assuming you're from the north island. The south island is freaky cold in winter).

I hate how my country's overlooked by pretty much every other country.

      Another New Zealander here.

I love how we can use honestly boxes here. For people don't know what a honestly box is, it is a stand/stall of items on the side of the road and you pay for your items by putting it into the box as there is no one manning the stand/stall.

I love appreciate that we have universal healthcare. I take pride paying into a system for well being of myself but also other New Zealand. I know I don't need it now but I know the system will be there for me should I need it.

One thing I don't like, well at times the isolation gets me. But watching the news and realising, how bloody lucky we are to not experience the turmoil of terrorism and high crime rates can also be a benefit.

There is a saying we NZers say, this is Godzone.

I am from the United States and what I like most about my country is that though I may live close to the poverty line but still live better than most of the world, what I dislike most is our arrogance.

I'm Canadian. I feel extremely safe and accepted anywhere I have traveled within my country, and feel that the citizens here, on average are very kind and helpful. I like that our health care is free and the minimum wage in my province is 10$ an hour.

I don't like the restrictive laws that are being passed right now, such as bill C-51 that are trying to strip our citizens of their freedoms as outlined in our Charter of Rights. Menthol cigarettes and flavored tobacco are about to be banned in my province and a law is going into place on July 1st that anyone smoking near a restaurant, in a vehicle with 2 or more people in a public place, or on a walking trail will be fined 1100$.

I don't even remember the last time I smoked a cigarette and I don't agree with the tobacco industry, but they generate a lot of revenue for our province and this is just another excuse for cops to write tickets and generate extortion money.

What happens if there are 4 people in a car and all 4 are smoking? Do only 2 people get fined and if so which 2?

I'm from America, downside I don't really feel safe where I live due to a lot of disappearances of women in my area lately. Upside tons of states still left to see and the winters and falls here are pretty beautiful.

I would prefer if someone broke into my home to be able to warn him to leave a few times and if he continued to break in and put me in harms way ... I would like to be able to shoot and then call the cops when I feel safe .

I love our health care and freedom we have in our country however I do not like Canada's self defense laws .. our justice system is very lenient and much different from the united states and other places but our self defense laws are terrible . If I am attacked or my home is broken into and I do something harmful to the person , I will still be charged along with that person more likely than not . I think that's a joke not to be able to defend you or your family .. call the police or hope they don't beat you to death because god forbid you fight off your attacker or if you do .. please try not to hurt him too badly , get real .

While I was born into America and have no intention of living in Spain, since nobody has mentioned Spain yet, I will.

Spain's universal healthcare is actually not to bad (for universal healthcare) and people here are quite enthusiastic and not to stiff. The tourism is nice too.

I think the weather is kind of shitty though. These temperatures are way to hot to even consider walking. Also Spain is a little collectivist in a few ways, which is something I don't really like.

The thing I hate most about america is that you are given the freedom to voice your own opinion and make your own choice but if its not the same as everybody else, you're looked down upon and usually outcasted or just put on medication.

On the (not so) bright side, we are # 1 in the best junk food!

I love the summertime here. The fruit trucks come around at this time and sell all sorts of fruits, sometimes they have chickens. There's also all the ice cream trucks that sell soft serve ice cream and the pushcarts that sell piraguas.

I dislike the people in this area. They play loud music until 4PM, wander the streets drunk, they don't look both ways when crossing the roads, no body seems to know how to follow basic traffic laws, there are a shitload of illegally customized Honda Civics that are loud as fuck, they live off welfare but they seem to be able to afford new cars and jewelry, and they sue at the drop of a hat. Most people in my country aren't like this. It's just the people in my town and the town next to it.

    I'm American.

I like that we have - freedom, a democracy, almost limitless ability to succeed and live the American dream, vast access to products and technology, just about any type of vacation spot you could want, friendly and accepting people, the ability to defend ourselves from any foe, baseball, football, BBQ and bourbon.

I don't like that we have - a growing number of slacker whiners in our population, become the world's policeman and waste lives and resources fighting other country's battles, high corporate tax rates, way too many fat people.

Oh, haha actually you've just !made my comment moot because I forgot about toblerone, and that isn't even fine Swiss chocolate, as for Belgian I've tried a couple of expensive ones, it's become a tradition that if anyone goes on holiday they bring me back a bar of expensive chocolate :D I've found that even milk Belgian chocolate tends to have a higher coco ratio than I like, which I guess is actually a sign of quality but not my thing

I really do! Plus I'd been waiting on this delivery for a while so I've had american candy on the mind recently

That sounds gooood, there used to be a local independant chocolate shop around here that had some really nice stuff but it closed a while ago :\ apparently even my custom wasn't enough to keep them afloat
