I'm comfortable being introverted, but sometimes I wish I could change my behaviour, like sometimes I'll want to do something extrovert but I'm just so used to being introvert that I can't seem to.

I wish I could say some nice and helpful things about introversion, but to be honest, it seems like the one thing that's held me back in my personal and professional life more than anything else. Being introverted means you're in a minority as most people are extroverts and find it hard to relate to the way we are. Additionally, for a man it's more acceptable to be the strong and silent type, but women are expected to be accommodating and warmhearted chatterboxes, so it feels even more like a handicap.
There's a new theory linking introversion to autism I read in an article recently (http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-introverts-corner/201104/compelling-theory-about-introversion-extroversion-and-autism)

  • I honestly don't care. I'd date the girl at McDonalds who is extremely shy before I ever dated a super awesome extrovert who's also a jerk.

Honesty and understanding. It's what matters most.

I think that almost everyone here is an introvert. I don't mind being one, but it would be nice to have the confidence to talk to people who I don't know more. Whenever I see extroverts doing that I do get a bit jealous of them, but there are great things about being an introvert as well. Most people who I speak to can't tell how shy I am straight away, they only find out when I start feeling so awkward that I have to tell them.

I'm an introvert who acts like an extrovert. I've always thought most people were.

    • I think you're an ambivert. I'm the same, too.

If you're an ambivert, leave it in the comments. I didn't know about ambiverts until yesterday.

I saw that in the other poll and I almost replied saying that I thought I might be one too. It's not a term I'd heard before but it kind of describes me. Mainly in real life, but sometimes here too.

  • Note: When I say introverts, I don't necessarily mean shy. They aren't exactly the same thing.

I'm an extrovert and don't mind introverted people as long as I can pull a conversation out of them.

I will admit though, that I know two really stunningly beautiful introverted girls who are nice people but as boring as ditchwater to talk to :o( They add nothing to a conversation as they are always terrified of offending someone, so never express an opinion - no guy ever dates them for more than 2-3 weeks. Whereas, I'm always up for a good debate!

    • Shy =/= introverted. Introverts can talk for hours on ends.

My apologies. I just followed the general thread of shyness vs confidence. I read the definition of extrovert and introvert and I have to say that I must actually be an introvert as I limit my time with people to a Saturday night, and can't be bothered with people for the rest of the week! I don't go out to work so that's ok.

I'm sad to say then that my 2 beautiful friends are great to look at but are empty heads with nothing to say, as they have no opinions / thoughts on anything :o(

But I meant people that keep to themselves and prefer there own company and people that like the company of others and are outgoing, not shy vs confident, lol.

I'm an ambivert- mostly introvert, but when I have the right story to say, I will want to share it right then and now. Sometimes, I have a habit of interrupting people because of how badly I want to speak -__-u
