What do you do?

Okay so I was given an esky (icebox) by my father, he had bought it some time in the 70's, they no longer make this esky, it was very distinct, with signs of age, but still a perfectly good esky. Years ago, I lost this esky.

I was at a friend's pissup just recently when I noticed it sitting in the corner. It was unmistakably my esky. Although I have since bought another one and no longer need it; how he acquired this esky has come to bother me. Did he steal it? I certainly don't remember lending it to him. Do I bring up this issue or let it slide? I mean it's an old esky. But the principle of the matter bothers me.

What would you do?

Let it go, it's a petty, trivial matter 1
Joke about it in an attempt to decipher how he'd acquired it 10
Confront him about it 5
Steal it back when his back is turned 4

The same happened with a doll. It disappeared and once I was at my cousin's place and saw my beautiful sitting on the couch. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't talk about it right then. When I got home I sent her a message and told her how important that doll was to me. I had it for years. I got it back.

I was going to say steal it back because that's pretty much what I had to do a few times when people I knew stole my stuff, however it's probably best that you talk to your friend about it.

I would confront him about it for sure. I don't take kindly to thieves...

Your dad gave it to you.. but it doesn't sound like it's sentimental to you. So just leave it
