What do you consider reality?

We claim that the waking life is real but how do we know for certain? People have dreams where they're realistic very memorable, and reoccuring. What if Life is the fantasy and our dreams are real? What if both things are Reality and we're actually living multiple lives (even though on a subconcoius and spiritual level)? Or, what if everything is an illusion and nothing is real? For all we know, this is only an experiment by Aliens far more intelligent and advanced than us. What do you consider real?

Reality and I parted ways long ago. We weren't very compatible.

Both can be real if you believe them to be

You can never prove one way or the other. It seems a lot more functional to believe that when we're awake that's the real world and dreams are the illusions, so that's what I, and I think most people, choose to believe.

This is a surprisingly deep question. I chose "both" and here is why:

I believe in the possibility that there could be multiple universes that we can get a glimpse of with the power of our minds. Creative pursuits, especially the "creation" of "fictional" worlds, characters and stories, could be glimpses into another world.

Maybe we are all born with this kind of innate power, but only people who are sensitive to it, such as children, writers and artists, exercise their mind's eye enough to truly tap into it.

Dreaming is the great equalizer, because no matter how creative or uncreative you are in your waking life, everyone has bizarre dreams.

So basically, I think that everything could be real, someplace in the universe. Of course, there's no way to prove or disprove it, but I choose to believe in it because I love my daydream world and find my (sleeping) dreams very interesting, so of course I want them to be real.

(Well, most of them anyway. I've had my share of pretty disgusting dreams that I wish didn't exist in ANY universe... I should just be glad that they didn't happen in the universe I live in.)

Reality is what exists when it is not being observed.

If you've never heard of solipsism, I'd have to suggest taking a look. It's basically the starting point for this kind of thought.

When I was a kid, i used to be like, what the hell is this world, am I real, is all of this really happening, or is this just some figment of my imagination. I was in like a permanent dream state.

Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know I know when it's a DREAM. I think I know I mean a 'Yes' but it's all wrong, that is I think I disagree. Let me take you down, 'cos I'm going to Strawberry Fields. NOTHING IS REAL and nothing to get hung about. Strawberry Fields forever. Strawberry Fields forever.
