What do you consider overweight for a woman?

*By average weight, I mean a healthy NORMAL BMI.

When a woman is even 1 pound over average, they're overweight. 11
When a woman is up to 5 pounds over average, they're overweight. 8
When a woman is up to 10 pounds over average, they're overweight. 27
When a woman is up to 20 pounds over average, they're overweight. 59
I consider women overweight if they're of average weight. 8
Overweight to me means obese. 47

I don't see twenty pounds above average as being overweight, even if it technically is. People in the middle of their ideal BMI range tend to look slightly underweight to me.

BMI is bullshit. According to BMI every single person is obese.

I am attracted to full figure or curvacious women. Not going to say skinny girls are not appealing, I prefer a women with a little meat on them at least. Everyone has their own preference. Honest to say, the book definition of over weight is correct.

Really depends on how she carries it.

My minimum possible weight is 114, I am 132 and I have little fat in my waist area. It's all butt, thighs and boobs and I carry it well.

If she is carrying 40 extra pounds and it's evenly proportioned and she carries herself nicely then I wouldn't know the difference. Obviously, if she is overweight, she is overweight, but sometimes even extra weight isn't enough to tip me off if she wears it well.

  • This is what I've thought about it and it applies to *adults*, both men and women. I know there is nothing scientific about it. I'm just trying to give you a ballpark figure of what I *personally* think about categories that relate to weight.

30lbs< past their individual ideal weight is "overweight"
    60lbs< is "obese"
    100lbs< is "morbidly obese"

Anything up to 30lbs over their ideal weight, just seems like a little extra cushioning and nothing to get excited about if they are living actively and healthily.

    • Those little "s&lt" things beside the weights were supposed to be greater-than symbols.

I'd base it less on the actual weight and more on the physical appearance. But gender doesn't factor into that at all. Chub is chub, man or woman.

I don't think this poll factors in women that are muscular.

I'm 110lbs. I feel that if I was 130lbs I would be over weight. Not fat, but over weight. I count fat as being a rather large person.

You have to combine overweight with height, and since you didn't do that, I am not voting, because 5 lbs overweight on a 6' tall woman is nothing, but on a 5' tall one is.

For me, I think it really depends. I've seen people who, according to charts, are overweight or underweight, yet to me seem healthy. And vice versa. In my opinion, there are a few factors which BMI charts don't seem to take into account. One that springs to mind is body type. I don't know, like I said, it depends on the person.

When you say "average", do you mean "worldwide average", "average for the country the answerer lives in", or "within what's considered a healthy BMI range"? My answer varies depending on what you mean.
