What could this be?

I have a 6 year old daughter. She is in the 1st grade and does great socially and academically. Recently she has started this habit of telling me EVERYTHING! Crazy stuff like " I made my baby doll touch a piece of clothing 2 times". or " I stretched my arm out like this , and I just touched my ear". It goes on all day long. She will come up to me at least every 30 min. She does not do this at school yet and does not tell anyone else these things. But if we are around others she comes and whispers these things to me. It is disruppting her play and I'm sure stressing her out. Any ideas?

i did that when i was little! i used to come out of the bathroom and be like "hey mom i just washed my hands and wiped them on the towel. then it fell so i picked it back up."
    etc. etc.
its definitely just a phase i went through when i was about the same age. dont worry, its completely normal.i just did it because i felt guilty not telling the person i trust everything in my life! how funny is that!
so maybe thats what your daughter is doing.

ps. my mom got really annoyed, but she let me do it until the phase ended, and everything turned out alright! so just relax!
    goodluck!

Read to the child from book daily!! Her growing brain is obviously not getting enough stimulation.

Start with an easy reading book then build up to a series, like Little House on the Prarie or The Babysitters Club.

Introducing her to the literary world is important at her age.

Yeah...that you mean to say that it is disrupting YOUR day and stressing YOU out.

Grow up, it's time to be a mother now.

Or you could always medicate her for being a normal kid, like most other moms in America who find it inconvenient having to attend to the normal needs of a normal child.

She obvioulsy, is looking for your atention and apparently needs to try to get it because you are off somewhere that she ahs to find you every thirty minutes or so to see if you're still there, as in still has a mom.

Why don't you try playing with her and being there while she plahys so that she can get it all out of the way for you and you can get back to your day?

It's normal. Kids are very imaginative at that age and like to talk just to hear their own voices..most of the time, it's either about nothing or just doesn't make sense. You should be worried when they don't talk.

She wants to be around u. I'm sure this phase will pass. Don't make it such a big thing. Just change the way you are handling it. She's just a kid!!

She just wants attention, which is normal for little kids. She's fine. You might as well humour her so she knows you listen.

My daughter did this till she was 13 then she stopped talking to me. Be happy that she picked you to share everything with. It probably won't last

The kid wants your attention and praise. Give it to her!

She doesn't have any weird disorder anything. She simply wants you.

ask her, she knows why. and she'll answer in that sincere kids way or will lie and you'll notice :P

i think it's normal, but it MIGHT be because you are being everprotective and she thinks she owes you an explanation, if its not the case then it's normal and you'll have to deal with it :)

    SOOO CUTE

Its normal, enjoy these stages in her life, wait till she starts the rebelling stage, you'll wish she still told you everything and actually wanted to be around you.

  • Lol, its really normal for a kid her age to go up to her mom and tell her everything, I know how it is, bc I take care of my cuzins kids, and they will do that non stop too lol, dont get stressed out about it, it will go away soon

I bet you have already done this but have you asked her why she does it. I'm no shrink but maybe she hasn't got many people to talk to so your the only one so she only talks to you.
