What causes someone to stop being infatuated?

For years there was this person who I could Not get off my mind! I used to think about her all the time from first thing when I woke up to before I went to sleep. I couldnt undestand why at first but later i realised that I think I fell for her. It was hard for me to accept considering im a straight gal and I had strong feelings for a close friend! I never told her and she ended up pissing off to live with her bf- a w
complete ugly looser !
She still crosses my mind daily but not as much recently.
What causes this to fade, meaning infatuation, im curious to know??

    For me, it's when I stop ignoring those little signs that tell me that nothing's going to happen between us. Though I'll admit it always takes me waaaaay too long to realize it.

    When their personal demons have thrown so much hell my way that I am forced to either confront them, accept them or leave them behind.

    More often than not, I leave them behind. I don't have enough room in my closet cemetery to bury OTHER people's skeletons.
