What can i do to be accepted on youtube?

it seems all of the nasty or weird videos on YouTube get all of the comments and publicity. I am not asking to get attention. I really would want at least 100 people to view my videos and comment of them. Maybe I don't have a talent that no one likes..

Provide original content that is greatly desired but hasn't been done well by others already.

    Upload regularly.

Interact with the audience in some way.

Be yourself regardless. Trying to act like something you're not just fails.

For a 1-off successful YouTube video:

    a) Make a video with an eye-catching thumbnail (almost nudity, fat person, some cute animal etc.) and give it a provocative title "FAT NAKED GUY DIES ON TELEVISION!!!" The content of the video need bare very little relation to the title and thumbnail. This guarantees you thousands of views, but also thousands of hateful comments and dislikes. It also guarantees my hate for you.

    b) Film something cute, preferably a kitten, puppy or exotic mammal. Give it a title like "Adorable Kitten Playing and Sneezing!" This guarantees you thousands of views, but also thousands of stomach-churning cutesy expressions of love towards animals. It also guarantees my hate for you.

    c) Film something gross. Whether it be a parasite, a spot being popped, some disease or some unattractive insect, this guarantees you thousands of views, and lots of comments regarding how gross and / or weird this video and part of YouTube is. It also guarantees I will watch it at least once out of curiosity, but probably won't comment.

For regularly successful videos and a loyal fan-base:

    a) Come up with an original but more importantly FUNNY sketch or comedic act that you can frequently create material for. This guarantees you plenty of views, a fan-base and lots of positive comments. It does however put you under pressure to maintain that quality of content.

    b) If you have a talent that can be expressed by audio or visually eg. dance, singing, playing an instrument, and from your experience already people are very impressed by you, upload regular videos of you doing something with your talent.

    c) If your life is interesting or you can deliver anecdotes or commentary in an entertaining way, a vlog could work for you. However, appearance often factors in to this - the more attractive you are, the more likely you are to succeed. You also need to appeal to the mainstream in order to attract a reasonably sized audience (you can't, for example, be an advocate for the legalisation of child porn... Although this works for a 1 off YouTube troll video).

If you need us to tell you what to do to be "accepted", you're probably amongst the majority whose talents don't lie in the 'entertainment business'. Good luck, nevertheless, maybe you just haven't found a unique selling point. Feel free to post a link to your videos here, I'm sure we'd be in a better position to advise you if we knew what your YouTube content is like currently :)

  • Don't rely on "being yourself". People like to believe that being yourself is good for getting big on Youtube, and if it's only for fun, then the be yourself thing works. But, if you want to get viewers, don't rely on being yourself alone. Be yourself and be who others want you to be, a mix of the two. This way you are having some fun and showing the crowd what they want to see.

Perhaps send a link to your Youtube here? I'm sure people would be able to give tips on what you might be doing wrong and how you can improve?

The people that get all the attention from being assholes are from other people that think they're an asshole, and it isn't what you want if you want to go far on Youtube. An example of someone trying that would be CopperCab, he hasn't got that far, has he? Only made himself hated.

Good luck on your future Youtube travels.

Perhaps a better way to put it would've been "stay true to yourself".

Having a separate persona IF and WHEN you take on a performing role in your videos, is fine. And of course providing what your audience wants, plays a vital role if you want big views. I just meant selling out your values to be popular isn't worth it.

Do you like singing at all? I'd suggest maybe doing a cover song. Those get a lot of views because people search YouTube for covers of currently popular songs. I want to do that, but I'm not sure which song to pick.

    You could be yourself:)

There are some serious and sophisticated videos on there.

What's the subject matter of your videos? Are they creative and artistic?

You could do what I was thinking of doing and get a Vimeo. The community is passionate about their work and very creative. If you want a good support, than use that site. To get more views, you could try tagging your videos and posting links on your twitter/facebook.

I have some videos that are semi-popular on Youtube.

I have almost a million views, but this is over the course of 4 or so years.

What I find you have to do to have many views, is that you have to upload really interesting videos such as an internet meme, a cat or baby video, a comedy/funny video OR you could upload videos of you talking (kind of like a vlog type).

You basically have to find some way to be very original, and have users remember you, and then of course have them subscribe and then their friends subscribe etc.

If you have something interesting to share, post a video. Outside-the-box thinking is key.

Are you uploading anything that anyone would actually find different or interesting? Why would people view something that's been done already a hundred times by others or done better than others?
