All drugs should be legal. It's the simple principle that no one, not even the government, has a higher right to your body than you do.

Drug legality is an area of legislation so ludicrous that governments should be utterly ashamed of themselves and citizens should point this out at every opportunity.

Governments should legalise based on population health but instead they legalise based on what is profitable. Cannabis is no more dangerous than tobacco (in this country it is nearly always smoked mixed with tobacco). There are people who shouldn't smoke cannabis because of known risk factors but, in general, criminalising it is just ridiculous. Although I don't partake, I was fully behind the government's decision to downgrade it as a class of drug, and dismayed when there was a sudden about-face.

Ecstacy is about the safest drug out there (both primarily and in terms of secondary effects) and yet we criminalise those who buy and sell it yet continue to turn a blind eye to alcohol and tobacco. I don't use any illegal drugs but I think there are some I would use if there was proper regulation and education about who should be avoiding them and who they are fine for.

I would decriminalise ecstacy, cannabis and ketamine and consider the position on speed, LSD, coke, phet-water, and things like meow meow (which is a name coined by people who know nothing about it - no-one actually calls it that).

Despite having a friend who uses heroin recreationally, I think crack and heroin are too dangerous for too many people for them to be legalised. In general, scientists, medics and population health researchers know a damn sight more about this than anyone in government or the utter crap that is reported in newspapers.

Yet they're trying to encourage the criminalization of tobacco... which is interesting since I still haven't seen proof that marijuana is not harmful.

Well, yes, fake synthesised pharmaceuticals that are provided by drug dealers are probably not going to be the safest.

But MDMA created by regulated bodies is currently under trial for legitimate pharmaceutical usage. Decriminalising allows for this regulation to take place (and also for taxation to be applied, which is another matter entirely).

It doesn't matter how legal a drug is, I wouldn't do any of them. However, I do think weed should be legal because its a lot less harmless than alcohol, and thats legal

I could rant for pages on this one, but I won't - suffice to say, most (if not all) drugs should be legal.

One of the main reasons marijuana makes people paranoid is BECAUSE it's illegal. It's a terrible shame that many people who would find their lives greatly enhanced by weed cannot enjoy it - because they are law-abiding.

And LSD rocks - such a shame it's been demonised so effectively.

I apologize to everyone, I accidentally pressed Enter and it submitted the survey before it was completed. The full choice list is:

    -Drugs should be Illegal

-Some drugs should be illegal, others should not be

-The law should be more lenient on the users

-All drug laws should be removed

    -Other

  • If the drug is relatively harmless, whatever. If it is going to cause you to hear voices and massacre an Amish family, no.

Let everything be legal. I mean everything from marijuana to black tar heroin. If someone wants to fuck up their lives at least let them do it legally. As long as the crack addict doesnt hurt me or my property in anyway than I could care less if he bangs 7 gram rocks on the regular.

All drugs should be legal, only reason people get rich off that crap is because of legality saying no. Personally i dont do drugs myself but if someone wants to fuck up there lives with some of the more "hardcore" drugs then by all means go for it

All medicines are drugs. However illegal narcotics such as meth, Lcd, heroin are too danger to be regulated amongst the public. So they should be banned. A number of new psychological orders have been added to the medical manual over the years. Some which people are very sceptical about and not really creating damage to the patient or those around them.

Yet therapists will still recommend drugging a 6 year old for this type of illness. Children are not fully developed yet and adding a lot of extra chemicals can mess up with the natural process of growing up. I know some parents are too fucking lazy to take care of a kid but you should not drug them. Things like ADD/ADHD should not be given medication.

I also think that children diagnosed with this disorder if it exists at all should not be medicated. I think children should only be medicated in worse possible scenarios like if they are seeing ghosts are ready to stab someone with a knife or something like this. Since this makes the child a danger to themselves and others. However medicating is often the first course of action when it should be the last. I think many of these issues could be solved with the proper environment. The proper care and actually talking through the issue. Apposed to everyone attacking this child for being a child.

Some drugs should be banned but others shouldn't be. It has been proven a number of times that beer does more damage to you then drugs so the next thing that would be banned is most likely beer.

all drugs should be leagal because thats just a WAY better system.......kids are going to get their hands on hard drugs LESS OFTEN with a system like this.....in spain...you can buy heroin and clean needles from people u can trust...all you need is your heroin card...and if you have a heroin card u are not allowed to drive....such a better system than spending millions of dollars finding and destroying the shit, putting people in jail.......

Ok, from my experience in Colorado legalizing drugs suck. It's true that colorado has legalized medical marijuana but anyone in the medical business can say that the idea of medical marijuana is pure bullshit. Medical marijuana is for people who are to stupid to swallow medicine in pill form. And a doctor can't even prescribe marijuana, they can recommend it. So anybody can walk into dispensary and say that they have pain and get some pot. So it's basically like pot has been legalized.

How bad is it? Everyone is high every where. Even the nicest parts of town. Fortunately the only crime of being stoned is being annoying (and the occasional car crash) and in a place like Colorado real crimes aren't exactly rampant.

Things that are dangerously addicting or cause predominantly violent reactions (i.e. meth) should be illegal. Otherwise, I think if someone doesn't want to do drugs or can't afford them they won't, and if they do/can, they will, regardless of the legality of the substance.

Although I absolutely know I am part of an increasingly small % of people with this kind of view, I have to say all drugs should be legal as they pertain to personal use. The % I refer to isn't of that position, but really the reasoning behind it. Regardless of health issues, it's none of the government's business what people do to themselves. I understand the concept of charging for endangering others while under the use, but other than that, legalize it all, tax it all, and stop taking all of the money I earn legally just because I decide to have a legal job instead of the easy-ass job I could have selling drugs for more money.

It depends on the drug. Some, like pot, are pretty harmless, while a few, like heroin and meth, are extremaly dangerous. The only three I feel sould stay illegal and that no one should try are Heroin, meth, and inhalants. Heroin is Extremely Dangerous and so is meth, and as for inhalants, there are so many things that can kill you.
Other than that, im pretty open to legalizing them,(not all) but with some regulations and plenty of research.

In any case, anyone wanting to use a caertain drug should research it first, and dont do it unless you really want to. Being pressured to do something isnt a good thing.

Inhalants are legal. They're just misused common products.

They ALL have their problems but being illegal solves NONE of those problems. It doesn't stop use or sales. It's clear that the current situation isn't working. It never will. Time to try something new.

the products themselves are legal, but for other purposes. there are laws against inhalant abuse, and you can be arrested for using a product in that manner.

They should be decriminalized, regulated, and taxed. We don't put alcoholics in jail just for being addicted to the stuff. They need mental help, not a prison sentence.

Yes, we do put alcoholics in jail/prison for drinking. In many cases people are NOT allowed to drink and if they do, they are incarcerated.

I don't care what other people do. If they want to be a crack addict in an alley way, go do it. We can use taxes from drugs to help pay for their rehab.
