What are your opinions on this?

What do you think about people that are poor and still choose to have a bunch of kids?

I disagree with it because these people are bringing all these kids into this world and not able to take care of them to their full potential. I get that you want to have a big family, but save money or try to get up in your career before having so many kids.
Their kids know they will not go to college because their mom says they won't have the money for it. Although i know there is financial aid and scholarships available college is still expensive. They have to share rooms and sometimes go hungry. Why have 7 kids if you don't have money? I can understand if it was a mistake but place your child up for adoption to a loving person who cant have kids of their own or start using condoms. They were homeless 3 times in this past year and i can't help feeling sad because the kids suffer so much. I feel like it's very selfish of the parents to do this. Is that normal?

Ever heard of a cycle of poverty? Most of those poor people you see with a bunch of kids don't know any better. They were born into poverty, therefore they didn't get proper parental supervision, they got pregnant young stunting their own earning potential, and boom the cycle continues.

And a lot of poor people have figured out that kids = free money. If you have a kid the government won't just allow you to be homeless or hungry. They provide shelter, food, and a monthly stipend. So a lot of poor women choose to use kids as a meal ticket.

At the end of the day it would be impossible to regulate child birth. And people are always gonna do dumb stuff. If you look at the clinical definition of insane the majority of humans are insane in one way or another. They learn nothing from there mistakes. Its the way of the world. GEt used to it. In a few thousand years natural selection will have taken care of all of them anyway.

I couldn't care less how much money someone has, it is irresponsible and ignorant for any couple to have more than two children.

How long do you think this planet can continue to support the stupid assholes that make as many babies as they please? The planet's resources are finite, in case you haven't been paying attention for the last 20 years or so.
Two children maintains the population; any more increases it. You should understand that, living on an island, don't you think?

We can support a percentage of the population having three kids because another percentage of the population have less than two kids, I don't have any statistics to base this on, but it is common sense. I do however agree that having a large amount of kids is irresponsible, and if you can't support your kids, you've gone too far already!

I agree with you. What do you think about a woman that was widowed after having 2 kids and she had one more kid with another man? Three kids from three adults. Seems to follow that same idea. That's my case anyway.

I dont think they are thinking they want to have a bunch of kids...I think they arnt taking proper protection against having too many kids and then end up g aveing a lot.
there are still quite a goid number of people who dont want to use condoms because it doesnt feel as good.
or maybe the women arnt using birth control...ether they dont have the ability to obtain it threw health care or are too poor.
they also could just be selfish.

    • Condoms don't cost a lot. They have condom machines you get a condom for $1. And they also give out free condoms at free clinics. SOOOO....

Thats fine...i never said they were a lot or hard to get...I said some people choose not to use them because they dont feel as good.
I am not one of these people.
but people make this choice along with other poor ones.

I couldn't agree more! It's either very poor people, or homeless ones that have loads of children. Especially gypsies. Where I live, they have between 4 and 10 children.
They don't work, they have no education, they steal, yet they get benefits for every child, benefits for being homeless, benefits for "being disabled", cause they bribe doctors to get disability pension, while the people who are in need of some financial help have to live on salt and bread!

So I believe such people, who can't contribute to society and whose children also won't, not to receive any benefits!
In fact they should have a limit on the maximum amount of children they can have and be punished for being jobless! Cause it's not that they can't get an education and a job. They don't want to. It's easier living off everyone's back.
This will be better for the children, better for the economy, better for the security of the country, better for the whole planet!

I think in some cultures, they choose not to use contraceptives, and hence have a lot of kids. Some even see kids as their own kind of wealth, more children to work and raise money to help them out of poverty and take care of them...

If poor people should have less children then rich people should have as many as they can but it just doesn't happen that way because each couples circumstances and way of thinking is different. Sometimes it works out and poor families get out of poverty in this way. Alternatively since rich people prefer having fewer kids, they should donate their money instead.

Sounds like you're only thinking of developed countries.

In certain circumstances, people tend to have children so they can have help around the house and such. With that in mind, I don't mind them having children since it can't be helped.

For those who aren't in those circumstances, I can't say much. Those who started poor and had kids regardless just made their situation worse. However, if they were well off at the beginning, had children, but ran into financial trouble then I don't really know what to think.

Good point... But there are seven of them. A lot of work could be done with that many kids.

Psh, that's like how I was raised.
What I mean was, they can help out with the family. Like, collecting money and food for the family.
But, choosing to have that many kids is dumb. My great-grandparents were doing well until they had twelve children... They became poor... Not that much, though.

            • Yea i guess i kinda see what you're saying. But why don't they actually take the time to work hard instead of depending on their kids? That just seems selfish to me. Maybe I'm wrong for thinking that but it's just my opinion.
