Weird for a guy to like another guy's scent?

So, I'm a guy and I happen to think that my male friend's scent is really nice. I have lots of male friends (and female friends), but I only like the scent of this guy. I like some of the girl's scents too but seeing as I'm male I know thats normal. But is it normal for a guy to like another guy's scent?

If I told him, would it be interpreted as an awkward sexual thing? I hope not, because I like to tell people when I think positive thoughts about them.

I do have some bisexual tendencies but that doesn't mean the two are related, does it?

Well if a guy smells nice, he smells nice. Although you indeed can't be sure about how exactly he would interpret your words if you tell him something like that.) Smell, but stay silent.))

Why do you have to tell him?

How can you know if a guy's natural scent is nice unless you get naked with him and put your nose on his skin? It's quite by-normal

Its not weird, I have the same thing with an older friend (I'm 20, he's 30). Neither on of us are homosexual- I like girls sexually, not attracted to him or any other men. He's not into me or other men, he also brings a lot of girls home. It made a lot of sense as to why he's not married or is in a relationship.

He's overseas a lot, for god knows how long (military). When he's home, he's usually hoping around from state to state, training here or there, or helping someone else train for a fight. If its not that, he's doing some kind of charity work for veterans... His marriage would fall apart quick if he had one.

I like his scent a lot, it doesn't get me all aroused or anything. It just makes me feel good, especially if my day wasn't so great, or I'm not feeling too good. I told him its not a sexual thing, he thought it was funny, and teased me about it, not in a mean way.

So I wouldn't say you're gay, but if you're getting turned on by the guy's scent- like his sweat, then you may want to re-evaluate your sexuality lol.

When you say "scent" do you mean cologne?

I've heard that guys go crazy over the smell of guy cologne on a girl.

Don't know if it's true though?

Look, to me you are questioning yourself more than telling your guy friend you like the way he smells. If my guy friends told me I smelt nice I'd say thanks but wonder if I put on too much cologne. It's just something that he won't care about. I wouldn't worry about the whole sexual thing just because you think a guy smells good doesn't mean you are gay.

You should probably keep it to yourself or if you really cant help it, tell him you think he smells nice, maybe even ask him what he puts on or something to not make him think that you might be sexually attracted to him and make things weird between you two.

    Just ask.

There's nothing wrong with it, though he might give you a wierd look. Asking about what brand he uses might be a good tactic to find out if it's the scent of something he wears or just him.

My little sister at one point told me she liked my scent. When I asked she said it was just the scent of me. I had to laugh because that was an oddly kind thing of her to say.

Are you talking about pheremones? Like, when he's in the locker room, naked, and not yet in the shower? And you pick up his boxers and take a deep whiff?

Or do you mean other scents ON him? Like, his brand of laundry detergent, deodorant, etc.?

The latter scenario is perfectly normal, you could tell him by asking what brand he uses. I actually started using Axe because it brought back memories of church camp (the only time I was in close contact with people). Then again, I wasn't the straightest guy in that church.

If it's the former, yes, it would be taken sexually. Especially considering, how can you know his smell without being in close contact with his skin?

    • Hah, no, neither of those scenarios. Well, I dunno, I guess a combination of the two. Its just how like different people smell different - a combination of their natural pheremones with soap products over the years create this certain scent. Its not just him; its his house, his clothes, everything he touches.

As long as its not some sort of unspoken rule that I am unaware of that says that if you like the smell of someone it automatically means you are sexually attracted to them. But if there is such a rule, I would like to know.

Also, turns out I apparently have a strong scent about me too. We must just happen to use opposite smelling soaps all the time so we find each other smelling distinct from ourselves. And it just so happens that I like his version?

  • Tell him and see how he reacts. Only way to find out what he feels. About the story itself... I see no problems on it but its kind of weird.
    I give the NO.
