Weight advice and a question

First I need some advise, i've lost 2 stone by eating less and doing daily 5 mile walks but it's taking too long, I'm self concious of my weight so I refuse to go jogging so everyone can see me jiggle but walking isn't enough, I was wondering if anyone knew of any effective weight loss exercises I can do untill i loose enough to go jogging.

Secondly I wanted to know if I was being paranoid, I'm planning to spend 110 pounds on a Franklin and Marshall hooded varsity jacket which is far more than I've spent on a piece of clothing before and was wondering if I should wait. Plenty of clothes and jackets would suit me as a larger person but I cant help feel that an XXL varsity jacket would just look rediculous, am I just being paranoid?

    Exercise is the most effective way to lose weight healthily and jogging is the purest form of exercise. "Just get over it" isn't helpful advice, but I think biting the bullet and going jogging for the first time would help you a lot. Jogging is scarier than it looks.

    • I've got social anxiety, I feel uncomfortable walking down the street sometimes so it won't happen. I would wait till it's dark but as it's summer it'd be late and I live in a shithole, seriously, I swear every week I read on facebook that someone's been stabbed, mugged or punched

    If you are too self conscious to go running I recommend going biking. I do it all the time and its a great way to lose weight.

    As for the jacket, I would hold off on buying expensive clothing until you reach your optimal/goal weight.

    Jog in the morning plus once you get in the zone you forget about everyone else.
    My friend lost two stone within like 3 months through diet and excersize.
    Just keep going dont give up

    Eat what you would normally eat just less of it. Don't eat that extra piece of cake. Don't grab that last slice of pizza. Don't eat that whole bag of chips it says "Family size" for a reason. Stick with what that and you can only loose weight never gain it.

    how much does a stone weigh? and why would people react negatively to you trying to better yourself i think most people would encourage you for doing?

      One stone is 14 pounds, so 17 stone exactly is 238.

    I think walking is a good idea. Some years ago, I walked 6 miles every weekday, and I think it played a significant part in me keeping a low weight.

    As for weight loss, I don't know that much. I try eating in a way that trims off the fat, but I haven't had that much to lose.
    What I think works for me is eating in a way that doesn't upset my stomach, and that is by not eating too many carbs or processed foods.
    You could also consider intermittent fasting, but read about it first.

    Regarding jogging, I'd like to note that there are people saying that doing excessive cardio exercising can be detrimental to your health.

    Yoga is a great method to lose weight with, especially when you're just beginning to get in shape. Try looking up some lessons on youtube, and practice everyday, you'll see improvement in your flexibility and weight.

    Jumping-Jacks, squats, crunches, and push-ups are also very efficient.

    100 calories:
    40 Jumping-Jacks
    30 Crunches
    20 Squats
    10 Push-ups

    One pound is roughly 3,500 calories.

    The app Lose it! is a good supplement to exercising, you can keep control of both how many calories you consume, and how many you burn.
