    We'll have a moon base by 2050 and be on Mars by 2100. One thing history has taught us is never say never. In 1900 people said we'd never fly and 69 years later we landed on the moon.

      Rule number 1 of investing is "Past performance is not a good predictor of future success".
      A moon-base or two wouldn't be much different from the current ISS where only a happy few go at taxpayers expense. Unless we find new physics we won't go far out in the universe and definitely not do mass, routine travel either, even just to the moon.

    I didn't vote. I don't think there's any way to fairly guess one way or the other.
    It's certainly possible. Who knows what we'll be able to do in 500 or 1000 years (or sooner)? Look what we've managed to accomplish in only the past couple centuries.

    We have to...if we want to save earthly creatures..even though mankind does not deserve it.....eventually our near perfect balance will tip slightly..from any of billions variables...were fragile so that slight imbalance will eventually kill us and a majority of earths life...as it did many times in the past

    Humans have to learn to get along with ourselves before going to space and dealing with other species that we will meet. we will eventually but only after we mature as a species...

    Who'd want a colony in space? I think mankind will colonize many many planets though. Unless we run afoul of the Borg, that is. Of course, without Captain Jean-Luc Picard, mankind will be assimilated with ease.
