Wasting food

Is it normal to be a bit upset when you see perfectly good food thrown away? A little insight. I used to work in a factory that made frozen food and anything that was not shaped correctly was thrown out. I found another job because the waste was very unsettling. I understand if it is contaminated or beyond the expiration date. Other than that I don't see a reason for it. There are so many who have nothing to eat al all.
