Was this despicable of me?

Recently someone I hardly knew confessed his feelings to me in a public place. When I politely rejected him, he threw down the bouquet of roses and the chocolates and stormed off while cussing me out.

I then took the gifts and went on my way. I like free stuff.

No, not at all. He chose to embarrass himself in a public place, and storm off like a little psycho. Free stuff, right on! ☺

Well, leaving them there wouldn't be cool because either someone would step on them, trip over them, or they would end up as litter on the street. I mean, I don't think the dude would come back for them. He was giving them to you, so they are yours, even if you reject his affections.

I probably would have given the roses away to some little girl or whoever was convenient and looked like they needed a pick-me-up, but there isn't anything technically wrong with what you did,

Sure, why not? He probably wasn't gonna come back for the flowers and chocolate. And you probably won't see him again.

I have no problem with the gifts but some things are best done in private. I hate it when a guy puts a girl in that position in front of 100's sometimes. She don't want to say no and make him look like the fool he is.

  • Bouquet of roses and chocolates? Where is he from, 1946?

Hey hey cast no aspersions on anything from 1946, it was a very good year

Yeah, I'm so tired of all this 1946 hate. Sure, it was no 1969, but it definitely holds it's own.

I don't remember much about it, but it was a good year for me because that's when I was born. Apart from that it was probably fairly boring I reckon

Why not? There's a lot to be angry about. Should I just be knitting in the rocking chair or what?

I think you have very stereotyped ideas of old age. I'm of the generation that marched against the Vietnam War, started Women's Liberation and went to Woodstock - we haven't all died and some of us are still trying to change the world for the better, not even for ourselves because we won't be around that much longer but for you younger ones
