Was the cost of saving the chillean miners worth it?

Would it be worth the cost if your own father or son were among them? They're someone's fathers and sons.

This question is one of the reasons why the world is screwed up. Human life is priceless... those men were someones father, son, brother, hero, friend etc.. where is your humanity/ empathy?

What kind of question is this? "Oh sorry, it's too much money, so have fun starving to death in the dark", is that what people should have said? Of course it was worth it.

It was well worth it. It's better than spending money on war.

To the guy who says we're all going to die anyway: Why are you still alive? Stop spending money to buy your food and stuff, because you're going to die anyway, right? Right?

Not sure about the specifics, but IMO if there's a practical way of saving someone without putting more lives at risk, it needs to be done.

Of course it was worth it. I know that it costs money but it is not as if a situation like this happens all the time and as previous posters have said, you can't put a price on a human life.

Regardless of money, anyone in that mine had the right to be saved, we are all humans, and to simply put off as "they aren't worth it" is pathetic. Those people have family's, we as a world should contribute to helping people everywhere, cold hearted people who say otherwise for the money, just pray your family or friends don't get hurt or stuck, cause moral may just catch up with you.

No cost should have been expended. If a flower was trapped in a mineshaft, whoever thinks 'all life is precious', would you dig up the shaft just to save the flower?

Prices should never be put on human life.
It's too bad health insurance companies don't think that.

In principle I cannot get behind the GOVERNMENT spending money, Sorry liberals.

If I were a politician I would vote no to projects like these.. Only I should decide what I do with *MY* money.

HOWEVER, I believe that if someoen came up to me with a arm bracelet explaining what was happening I might give them a few bucks..
