Was ted bundy really a depraved monster or was he just misunderstood?

I keep thinking that despite all of his evil malicious act that deep down inside, he's just doing it not out of malice but because he's hurt and he's trying to find a way to fill the void. I mean he's been betrayed three times in big ways by women. First his mom, then his girlfriend, then his wife (who divorced him). I'm not saying what he did was right, but you sort of understand why he did what he did when you research his background. And p.s. he grew up with little attention paid to him considering that his stepdad did not want anything to do with a child that wasn't his.

I've watched and read about Ted Bundy, and personally, I think he was suffering from some sort of mental illness, like Psychopathy or Sociopathy. Some form of disorder that made him feel no emotion or pity for other humans besides himself.

Then again, not every person with those mental disorders become serial killers. Ted Bundy just choose to become a serial killer for his own sexual desires.

Looking into his background, yes, his childhood wasn't the most pleasant, but that doesn't excuse his actions later in life. Plenty of people have had horrible childhoods, worse ones than Bundy's, and they didn't end up being killers.

So, in the end, I don't think there's a reason to feel sorry for Ted Bundy. He didn't have to become a serial killer, he choose to be one.

It's a shame really, I think he could of been a good lawyer, or some other person if he hadn't become a murderer.

Absolutely. There's always a reason why people do the things they do. The reason isn't necessarily an excuse but it's still a reason and if the reason is out of the culprit's hands, is it really the culprit's fault? Or is it the fault of the person who made them do it?

I mean, if you hypnotised someone into committing murder, people would rightly blame the hypnotist. Why should the culprit shoulder all responsibility? We need to reevaluate our justice system and start executing the smug.
