Was our friendship with our teacher wrong?

So I am a drama student and me and the rest of the class have a really good relationship with our teacher. We can make jokes about her and she will joke about us and everyone knows not to take it personally even her, but today when we were lining up for class the head of dept came up to is students to have a 'talk'. Basically she told us that some other staff members had complained to her about how they think its not ok for us to have that type of relationship with our teacher. The head of dept also said that she knows that its only jokes and nobody gets offended by them but that it makes our teacher look unprofessional and that we look rude. We had our teacher straight after that and she came in crying (we don't know if it was because of the complaints of not). Our hearts sank when we seen her, we cant even look at her in the face without wanting to cry. We had a really good relationship with her and some of our most amazing memories are in that class, and we know that no matter how much time passes it will never be the same which kills us because she is our favourite teacher. What makes it worse is that we she her almost everyday for class sometimes more and its just so awkward and we hate not being able to talk to her because we feel like we don't know what to say. She was always the teacher who we could talk to and she would be there for us and now we feel like we have lost that it and it kills us.

    Fuck the head of the school m8. Have a friendship with your teacher anyhow, and if the head walks in again, ask them 'am i not allowed to have fun in this hellhole? Are you gonna punish the teacher and the students for having fun in a FUCKING ELECTIVE? Are the jokes hurting you? Is being professional better than having a good time?' And if they punish you for asking them these questions it's not just. 'Are you now gonna punish a student for being right, and because you have no other option other than giving in, your stupidity begs you to use authority over logic?'

    I have a friendship with a teacher but it is kind of different. I have never actually had him as a teacher (and never will since I'm in AP English) I go to his room during lunch. My school is really relaxed and teachers even get to wear jeans twice a week. I think that as long as the friendship couldn't be considered inappropriate then there is no problem with it.

    It's great that you had that relationship with your teacher. It sounds awesome. I'm mad at the pricks that complained. They are either jealous or stuffed shirts.

    Talk to your teacher and let her know your feelings. Tell her you really miss her teaching style. Talk to the other students and tell them to do the same thing.

    If you really want to rock the boat go and talk to the pricipal and tell them you miss the way your teacher used to be and everyone is upset including your beloved teacher and that you wish all teachers were like her and not all stuffy.
