Was he in love with me or was he gay?

This summer I went to find a job on an island and a guy that I met there offered me his house for 5 weeks. It is very hard to find a house there.

In the beginning we both thought that we are going to live together for like 4 days. But i couldn't find the right job and i end up vacationing for months.

This guy is really bad looking and i look quite good. After some time he started saying mean things to me like " aren't you a little old to be a model? and shit like " woman look good till the age of 28 then man want 18 year olds". Completely insane and mean stuff that proved that he was a psycho. He also said that he is the most beautiful man ever made, when actually he was the ugliest.I didn't left because i was having an amazing time on the island.

One day he said to me " don't say to anyone that we live together and we haven't had sex because people will think that either you are a lesbian or that i am gay, we both look like models ( he is extremely ugly as i said)"

Then when i left the house i blocked him everywhere and he started swearing at me on the street, lol( before me leaving he was also mentioning that he wants to continue hanging out when we go back to our town).

In addition when we lived together he was mentioning having sex with girls ( which i am not that sure he can.... he is that ugly). And he only made very few and very subtle mentions on me and him as a couple or as having something more between us. He was very respectful in that way.

So do you think that he was gay or in love with me and he couldn't say it? Or something else?
