Want to tell my crush how i feel, however; my ex is causing problems.

Hey y'all,
I like a guy, (Let's call him Hunter) who is friends with my ex-boyfriend. I want to tell Hunter I like him, but I'm scared that if I do, my ex (who is a possesive asshole who thinks he can control how I live and who I date.) will cause problems and say shit to Hunter like ''Oh, Beth's a slut'' or ''don't date her, because she'll drop you right after you screw her.'' etc, etc. Now, he's done that type of stuff before when he thought I was cheating on him and he told a BUNCH of people that I slept with a friend of mine (which I did not). I'm thinking about telling Hunter on graduation day, only because my ex is graduating, and I won't ever have to speak to him again (therefore he can't barade me). My only problem is that I have to work over the summer, and I'm scared that Hunter will forget about me and find someone else. What should I do?

Sounds complicated. Why get yourself involved, how do you even know this guy is any better if he's friends with your asshole of an ex? And even if ya'll graduate they're likely to still be friends which means you'll always be linked to your ex boyfriend via Hunter. And if your ex is so posesssive he's not gonna accept the two of you dating probably, and many people wouldn't even date someone their friend had dated before out of respect.
There's tons of guys in the world. If I were you i'd move on and find someone who'd stir up less drama in my life, and if my ex was so toxic the last thing i'd want to do would be anything that'd trigger him to go after me again.

    • I've been told to move on by many, MANY people in my life. It's just so hard, when you like someone this much.

This all sounds like a giant shitstorm. Perhaps you should forget them both, and focus on your education and job.

    Are you in H.S.?
    Your life hasn't even started.
    L nell gave great advice.
    Get your college years started.
    5 years from now.
You'll look back on this, and
    LAUGH.
The perfect solution is for you to move out of state for your next school.
Get away from all the drama, and your comfort zone.
When you're in a comfort zone you are at risk for settling.
    Instead of choosing.
