Waking up in the middle of the night to eat

Is it normal that I wake up in the middle of the night, around 2am, to eat. I stand in front of the cabinet and sometimes wake up when Im doing it, sometimes I dont remember at all until I see the wrappers in the morning...

I barely sleep at all. So I stay up eating twinkies and playing video games.

You should see a doctor. This sounds like sleepwalking, and can be dangerous if it progresses.

My sister used to do that and she'd wake up with half-chewed cookies in her mouth in the morning. Are you taking any sleeping medication? Drugs like Ambien will cause it also. Seems like it could have something to do with a sugar drop or glitch in your brain. I have a morbidly obese friend who is obsessed with food, and I imagine she does it. I don't blame her. It's got to be a problem with wiring in the brain. You should keep cookies and maybe a bottled drink at your bedside. If you know it's there, maybe you'll feel the need to get up and eat less.

you are sleep walking. do you live alone? if not, tell the people you live with what you are doing. this could be dangerous. kids sleepwalk more than adults do and most grow out of it.
