Voice in your head?

I realised that when you are thinking or reading it's kind of like you are imagining or hearing a little voice in your head. It kinda freaks me out - when people say they hear voices in their mind - is it really just their brain and thoughts (messed up or not) and they don't know it? Is this normal?

    For most people, it's just their inner voice. It's what they're thinking, you know, like when you're reading this - you can probably hear yourself saying it in you head.

    For others, they can hear a unfamiliar voice saying things to THEM. That's a sympthom of schizophrenia, I think.
